As he walked through the street ,Ash noticed that people where staring at him ,whispering and pointing towards him. ~This is not good~ Thought Ash He noticed a large building across the street. There was some security there. With some quick moves Ash might be able to break in. But Ash was not going to take any chances; he had to find Captain and others fast. He swung the weapon over his back and started moving fast avoiding eye contact with the people. (USS Dennison- Holodeck 1- ATAC/SEC - Ensign Ash Divay- 16:30) Coming to a street he noticed Captain and others not to far from where he stood. They seemed like they were ready to break into a house. Ash yelled but he was too late they were already inside the house. Just as he was getting ready to run across the street he noticed some men pointing towards him "Hey you !"one man yelled. ~Time to Run~ Ash thought As he turned the men blew on his whistle and yelled, "Stop!" Ash ran as fast as he could thinking ~I'll lose them in the back alleys and come back to that house~ (USS Dennison- Holodeck 1- ATAC/SEC - Ensign Ash Divay- 16:46) Ash had been running for few mins now he lost the first man in the bar but the second one caught up with him near the back door of the bar ,Ash managed to knock him out with butt of his rifle. Ash had decided to take the man's clothes . Deciding to get back to where he saw Captain and others go inside the house ,Ash made his way back to that street . Once there he noticed some kind of street brawl was on in the middle of the street ,5 or 6 men were beating up a woman . "Leave her be," a man whose voice sounded familiar to Ash came to her aid. It was the FO and he was wearing the local clothes. Once the men saw Will had tackled one of their own, they all jumped on him, and though will fought back, breaking on man's nose with a wild punch, and nocking a tooth out with another wild punch, they were able to subdue him, and the pinned him to the ground. One of the men looked at him and spoke. "This man aided the witch, he must be one himself. We must bind him and lock him away so that reverend Richardson can pass judgement on him tommorow." ~I must do something,But if I do they might hurt him .~Ash decided to take the chance. Pulling out pins from two gas grenades he threw them at the men. As the gas spread the men started coughing and stumbling. Sensing his moment he rushed in grabbing FO and the woman "come with me" he said Holding their hands Ash led them both to the house, He opened the door and pushed both Will and the woman inside. Both were coughing and had tears in their eyes. Ash's eyes were also burning. He closeed the door and stumbled to the floor. "I need a vacation" He said to no one in particular. Just then Captain and Trew came rushing to the corridor. (Reply Davis,Banowsky,Trew) (Posted Ash Divay) (USS Dennison-Holodeck 1-CO Madison Davis-16:41) "Thanks...now lets get moving." "Right," Will said as they left the main room, "Alahan head to the front door and scout for us, I need to to talk the captain, wont take to long." Quirking her eyebrow, Madison wondered what this could be about. She surely wasn't hoping that he would choose this time of all times to start complaining about something. Gazing in his general direction, she looked at him, her questioning apparent on her face. "Captain," Will started to say, but it was evident he was having a hard time trying to find the words "I want you to know that I have your back, and Trew's and I'm once again sorry about the deaths of Ensign Divay and Lt. Loyola." Madison looked down, then looked back up as if trying to think of what to say. "Will...you have to stop blaming yourself for their deaths. They are Starfleet officers and they knew the risk when they signed on the dotted line...however I know you were close to Loyola personally. Before the Dennison I lost officers on the Relentless that I was very close too, especially after the time shift that brought us all here. It still is hard to deal with, but you can't blame yourself." ~It's me who's to blame,~ she thought, sighing and trying to wipe the thought away as not to depress herself. "Sir, I know we haven't served with each other for that long, but just know that I trust you, and that I will do everything in my power to ensure your safety and that of Ensign Trew's, as well as that of Night and Semme" Will said. "I know, and you're doing a fine job Commander." Madison always tried to make a point of telling her officers how well they were doing as well as disciplining them when it was needed. ~Maybe I haven't praised any of my officers lately for their hard work....but there's just no time for that right now.~ "I know that we are racing to find Night and Semme as well, but I think it would be wise, for our physical well being if we found some lodging and rested for at least 30 minutes, maybe see if there is anything of note in this town, or anything that we might be able to use to bust free of the holodeck, and also to gather supplies." Grimmacing, she knew he was right, though she didn't want to listen. "I agree...but not for long! We don't have much time if we intend on finding the other two." <> "Go let Ensign Trew know what we've decided and we can sit here for awhile...provided no one comes back. Maybe a little more exploration is in order since we're in present time and company," she said, making half a joke that she knew wasn't really meant to be laughable. As she watched Will go out towards the front of the house to let Trew know of her decision, she sat down on one of the beds and started wondering how and when they would get out of the holodeck. (Reply: Banowsky, any) (Posted by: Stacey) (USS Dennison-Holodeck 1-FO Banowsky-16:46) "I agree...but not for long! We don't have much time if we intend on finding the other two." "I agree as well, but some rest would be good." Will replied. "Go let Ensign Trew know what we've decided and we can sit here for awhile...provided no one comes back. Maybe a little more exploration is in order since we're in present time and company," she said Will then headed to the front. "Trew, were resting for a bit. Just to let you know. I'm going to scout a bit, keep an eye on the captain. (reply Trew) "Thank you ensign," Will said as he then turned around and exited the house. However as he exited he caught something out of his eye. It was a group of 5 men beating up a woman. They were shouting witch, witch, burn her, burn her. Will hesitated for a moment, he knew she was a hologram, but he still couldn’t just stand back and let her be killed. He couldn't. Will then ran almost on instinct and headed to the huddle. "Leave her be," Will shouted as he ran up to the group. He tackled one of the guys to the ground. The moment he did, he realized that this might hurt their cover, but Will just couldn't let anyone be hurt, hologram or real. We must bind him and lock him away so that reverend Richardson can pass judgement on him tommorow." ~Crap~Will thought to himself, hoping that Trew and Davis were safe. (reply Davis, Trew) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Dennison-Holodeck 1-CO Madison Davis-16:53) As Madison decided to walk around the house, she noticed a lot of things that she had no clue what they were. She wanted to ask Will about them since he seemed to know so much more about the past than her, but now was not the time. It was then that she ran into Trew and he informed her that Will had gone out to scout. Continuing her walk about the house, she noticed that there were 8 beds in one of the largest rooms. Her eyes widened a bit at the thought of having 8 children, let alone watching them all and making sure they'd stay out of trouble. From there her thoughts wandered to that of having children in general...not living the Starfleet life, but instead a civilian lifestyle. Shaking her head to herself she decided that would not be the lifestyle for her that she wanted. However Madison did want to eventually be married and have children of her own....just not 8. The Dennison was a warship though, and not a place for children. Sighing, she wondered how her life would end up when she heard a large barging sound through the door. Reacting quickly, she immedialty thought someone returned home from work, but then she soon heard Divay's voice over all the racket. "I need a vacation." ~That can't be....or can it?!?!~ Taking her chances, she bolted from the room she was in only to find Trew, Divay and Banowsky all in a heap by the door sputtering and coughing. "What's going on here? Ash! You're alive! But....how...?" <> "That doesn't matter. All that matters is that you're safe now. Just ...dont' ever take off like that again," she said like a stern mother. <> "So...you plan on telling me what happened or do we have to do it on the run?" Captain Asked Divay who was on the floor coughing. Will was sitting besides him. "I don't know ma'am .I was knocked out after the grenade exploded, When I came too I found my self buried in debris." Ash replied. "That doesn't matter. All that matters is that you're safe now. Just ...dont' ever take off like that again," Captain said like a stern mother. "Aye aye sir !"Ash replied "So...you plan on telling me what happened or do we have to do it on the run?" Davis asked as she pointed towards the crowd of people heading towards the house. "I talk better when I run ma'am. Besides I don't think they want to be our friends." Ash said pointing towards the crowd who had by now started banging on the door. As Ash got up on his feet he felt pain in his chest , "Ouuuch " He let out putting his right hand over his ribs. (Reply Any ) "No I am ok, Lets get out of here before they completely surround the house." Ash said hoping that it's just a minor injury. (Reply Davis, Banowsky, Trew) (Posted Ash Divay) (USS Dennison- Holodeck 1- FO Banowsky-16:57) Will was sitting quietly in the corner of the house. He was happy to see Ash alive, but his arrival caused more problems. Mainly problems brought about by his own actions trying to rescue a young woman who was currently in tears away from the group fearing for her life. They had accused her of being a witch, and Ash using the smoke grenades surely appeared to be witch craft to this people with no knowledge of future technologies. And while Will was very happy to see Ash back alive and healthy, them leaving was condeming this young woman, though holgoraphic, to die. Not just that, they would be on their trail the entire way out, hunting them. Will wasn't going to have that. He was going to give them time to run, to find Night and Semme. The townsfolk where getting closer, the shouts of Witch, Witch, Witch, were getting louder and louder. Will knew what needed to be done. "Ouuuch " he heard Ash say as Will got to his feet. "Are you hurt ensign?" Will asked. He wanted to make sure Ash was well enough to travel. "No I am ok, Lets get out of here before they completely surround the house." "There is a door in the back, take that and keep running, find Semme and Night. and find a way to shut down the program." Will said, "I'm gonna take the front door, buy you time." (reply Davis, Trew, Divay) "They think I'm a witch, they don't know that the rest of you exist, and I can pass Divay rescuing me as a spirit or something. Go out the back door and run. I've made up my mind. The worse that can happen is I die. The best thing, they give me a trial and by the time they pass sentence, well, the holodeck Will be shut off. I am not changing my mind here, so get out the back door damnit, and find a way out of the Holodeck." Will said, he wasn't afraid of dying, not anymore. It wasn't war, but hell, he knew he was going to die eventually and if it mean possibly saving his crew, he was going to do it. (Reply Davis, Trew, Divay) "Goodbye, ensign's and Madison," Will said as he got close to his captain, he gave her a long hug, holding her tight, more like a good friend would, not like a first officer. "It was honor" (reply Davis) Will then turned and exited the front door. "If you want me, I'm here, I'm the only one "witch" here, so you say, though a witch I am not. But I will not run from you." With that the men pounced on Will and slung him to the ground. But Will didn't care, his only thoughts were hoping that Captain Davis and the others would be able to get out ok. (reply Trew, Divay, Davis) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Dennison-Holodeck 1-CO Madison Davis-17:01) Turning around once more, Madison watched as the town's people rushed towards the house to which they were all baricaded in. ~Perfect...a real shame Starfleet never taught us how to get out of these types of situations.~ "There is a door in the back, take that and keep running, find Semme and Night... and find a way to shut down the program." Will said, "I'm gonna take the front door, buy you time. "Will, hurry up!" Madison shouted, trying to get Will to get out the back door with the rest of them. "They think I'm a witch, they don't know that the rest of you exist, and I can pass Divay rescuing me as a spirit or something. Go out the back door and run. I've made up my mind. I am not changing my mind here, so get out the back door damnit, and find a way out of the holodeck." Will said. Persing her lips together, her first officer had just drawn the line that pissed her off. "Commander we don't have time to argue this. You are not going to die, you will follow my direct orders, do you understand me?!" It obviously didn't do much good as he didn't follow her order to go out the back door with the rest of them. Instead, he wrapped his arms around her and gave her a tight hug...something she had least expected. Just then her thoughts and feelings were that of mixed. Why did her first officer have to be so damned charming at times...and they were always the worst times? Was she suddenly finding herself attracted to him? ~What a way and time to start dealing with that possibility,~ she thought, giving Will, her best friend a hug back, and ditching her thoughts. Madison had hoped to pull him out with her while he was busy babbling about the worst case scenario, but instead the door slammed shut on her face after they let go of their embrace. The door locked, Madison couldn't get back inside, but instead heard Will saying, "If you want me, I'm here, I'm the only one "witch" here, so you say, though a witch I am not. But I will not run from you." Looking to Divay and Trew, she said, "Quick, lets go!" Scampering off, it was tough for Madison to run in the dress she had to suffer with wearing. She couldn't imagine how one did any work wearing one of those things...but here she was proving her own theory to her thought. As they ran farther and farther, she would come up with a way to get Will back. Instead of going after him first however, she decided to find Night and Semme. She desperatly needed to get them back and to make sure they were ok before going back to get Will. She also knew there was no way she would be able to get him back facing a crowd of that size...she would need Night and Semme. Finally stopping for a rest, she turned to Divay and Trew and asked, "Any suggestions on where to find Night or Semme? Divay...did you see anything that might point to a direction in their heading while you were on your own?" (Reply: Divay, Trew, any) (Posted by: Stacey) (USS Dennison- Holodeck 1- ATAC/SEC-Ensign Ash Divay-1659) "There is a door in the back, take that and keep running, find Semme and Night. and find a way to shut down the program." "They think I'm a witch, they don't know that the rest of you exist, and I can pass Divay rescuing me as a spirit or something. Go out the back door and run. I've made up my mind. He had seen this look earlier in his life. His Marine Sergeant had the same look before he jumped in to fight the Borg so Ash and others could get out. "Good Luck Sir!" Ash said giving a quick Marine salute. Ash saw that Captain had a plan , she turned to Divay and Trew and asked, "Any suggestions on where to find Night or Semme? Divay...did you see anything that might point to a direction in their heading while you were on your own?"Davis asked "Ma 'am, there was a sort of complex, it had very high security, that could be something important. " Ash responded not knowing if that was the right place to look for Night and Semme. (Reply Davis, Trew) (Posted Ash Divay ) (USS Dennison-Holodeck1-CO Madison Davis-17:10) Knelt down in the brush, Madison listened to Ensign Divay as he gave her his best idea of where to locate Semme and Night. "Ma 'am, there was a sort of complex, it had very high security, that could be something important. " "High security?" That perked her attention a bit more. "Knowing those two they probably headed in that direction to try and find someway to take the holodeck offline...or transport us out of here," she mused aloud. Looking at both Trew and Divay, she said, "Ensign, you lead the way...and uh, we'll no doubt have to change again once we get there," she said, getting tired of changing. <> Madison followed Divay, and she noticed Trew walking along side her seemed a bit nervous. She felt bad for the poor man...fresh out of the Academy and already having to put up with psychotic creatures of the night mixed with whatever else her crew had fantasized up. ~Alahan...his first name is Alahan,~ she thought to herself, trying to place the first name with the last. She would make a note of it to get with him later and see if he needed to talk. Besides, she needed to get to know him anyways. "How are we doing up there Ensign?" She asked Divay. <> "Just as long as we don't get lost and run into any other creatures, I don't care what route you take." <> Shrugging her shoulders, she said, "You're the front man, I'll let you make the decision." <> For whatever reason she wondered if Divay had gotten lost of if there was more than one way or....~Could the land layout be changing as well as the programs?~ (Reply: Divay, Trew, any) (Posted by: Stacey) (USS Dennison - Holodeck 1 - ATAC/SEC- Ensign Ash Divay - 1711) "High security?" "Aye Captain" Ash said As they started to move ,with Ensign Ash in lead and Captain and Trew behind him Ash couldn't help wonder ~What kind of stupidity made Man commit such a cruelty as to burn a fellow man alive.~ They have been walking for few minutes when Ash Felt some doubt about his choice of route and stopped to look around a bit. It was dark, moist and cold .And the mist was a added pain. "How are we doing up there Ensign?" Davis asked Divay. "Doing ok ma'am, I think this is the shortest route"Ash replied hoping he is right. "Just as long as we don't get lost and run into any other creatures, I don't care what route you take." Davis said "We should be ok as long as we stay together, Ma'am. From what I have learned these creatures are not indestructible, and they know it, so as long as we stay together we will pose a threat to them as much as they pose a threat to us." Ash assured his CO Shrugging her shoulders, Davis said, "You're the front man, I'll let you make the decision." "Aye Captain, Right this way" Ash replied and he started to move again, with others in tow. They have been walking for few minutes when they suddenly walked into a city street. There were vehicles driving past, people walking around. Ash noticed a woman who was standing on the side of the street. She noticed Ash and walked towards him "Hi handsome, nice costumes. Can I play too?"She said while placing her hand on Ensigns Divay's shoulders. "Sorry but I am busy" Ash told her. Obviously disturbed by Lack of attention by Ash, she turned to Captain Davis and said "Yea I can see that, I don't like old fashioned role playing anyway." and she walked away. Embarrassed by this event Ash wanted to explain to Captain and Trew what had happened as he turned towards them he heard a sound of a vehicle stopping a few feet from where the Woman was standing .As he turned around he saw Two men jumped out and garb the woman ,As they started to drive away Ash noticed a distinct marking on the side of the vehicle .This was the same mark he had seen on that building they were looking for. "That's it! Captain if we follow that vehicle it will lead us to that building" (Reply Davis) "Without listening to what the captain had to say Ash jumped in front of another vehicle ,The driver of the vehicle stopped suddenly ,it stopped just a few feet from Divay's legs. Will could have easily found a way to break out of the cell, if he had tried. But he didn't, he didn't want to make more of a mess. As long as they were focused on him, they wouldn't be focused on Captain Davis and the others. He was alone in the cell, but he wouldn't be for long. Davis questioned Ash Ash could see the vehicle few meters from them slowing down due to red signal on the traffic lights. "It was the sign! Look at the sign on the car. I saw the same sign on the building we are looking for" Ash said pointing to the bright red and Blue circular sign with a cross going through it . He wanted to hurry up and catch the vehicle before the signal turned green .but his internal injuries kept him from hurrying. And the vehicle started moving again. They ran for another few minutes before they all stopped for a break simultaneously. Hunching down to catch her breath for a moment, Davis asked, "How much farther is this building?" "It should be around this block captain" Ash responded trying to catch his breath and trying to hide a little blood which was coming out of his nose and mouth. He knew exactly what was wrong with him when he saw the dark red blood. But he had better things to take care of right now. So he wiped the blood off his nose and mouth making sure to hide it from Captain and Trew. Looking at Trew, Davis said, "We'll keep an eye out for any of those signs that you saw on the car. That should lead us there quickly enough. We still need to go rescue Will." "Aye Captain" Ash said nodding. Taking a deep breath in, Davis said, "Alright Ensign, finish leading the way!" "Aye, Right this way ma'am" Ash said as he started jogging They jogged for few more minutes finally turning a corner after a city block. Right in front stood a massive building, it had several floors and high security all around. "There !" Ash said pointing to the large building . Ash turned to Captain "Orders ma'am?" he said (Reply Davis) (Reply Davis, Trew) (Posted Ash Divay) (USS Dennison-Holodeck 1-CO Madison Davis-17:20) "Orders ma'am?" Was the only thing Davis heard when they finally found the building Divay had described to them. The building looked like a large medical/scientific facility. It stood tall with several floors and was an ugly grey/silver color to tip if off more so. Davis watched as several of the employees went in and out of the building, each one doing there own retina scan along with a voice pattern to boot. ~Great, this is going to be fun.~ "We need to get into that building. Since you both represent security I presume handling the security points you can take care of. Make sure all the bypasses are in place before we attempt anything because once that alarm goes off we won't have much time." <> "How long do you think it will take?" <> Grimmacing, Davis said, "I know it shouldn't take too long, but you're right. It would be best to wait until night falls so no one will see us." Glancing at the watch she had picked up previously with Will's supplies in the cave, she then stated, "And night isn't too far away. We have about one hour to prepare before going in." <> "While you guys are drawing up the stuff to shunt the systems, I'm going to see if I can get a better grasp on the layout of the facility. Once I have that I'll come up with a plan." Looking up towards the sky, she wished for the first time that night would fall sooner rather than later. Of coarse since it was the holodeck she knew she could be completely wrong as the sun seemed to rise and fall on it's own will rather than in a normal timely fashion. "You guys take this," she said, handing off all her supplies, "and head over to that clear alley way to work. I'm going to scout about for the plans to the building. I'll meet you in the alley in half an hour." <> Nodding off, Davis went her way and she watched Divay and Trew go theirs. Ele was being dragged backwards into a room. He ran towards her but was quickly pulled back by one of the Holoprograms. The Vulcan swivelled around and regained the use of his right arm. He used several Vulcan techniques and rendered the man Un-conscious. Semme ran to the door, it was locked. Nick knew from coming through that door, that it lead to a staircase. They could be taking Eleanor Night anywhere within the Complex. There was just no way Nick would be able to find her.. Not without help. He ran to the panel he was just at. "The pattern buffers should still have the EMH." Nick said, he rebooted up the system manually and the EMH re-appeared. "State the nature of the med... Oh you again, What do you want?" The EMH said. "Did you get that message to the outside?" Semme asked infuriately loud. "No. The holo-emitters are shut down. Power failure" The EMH retorted back at Nick. Nick thought for a moment, "They've taken, Ensign Night." He said sombrely. He wasnt too sure what to do, he didn't know his way around the complex. He turned back to the computer ignoring the EMH. The EMH wondered down the corridor and then walked back, annoyed to the point of no return the EMH said, "What am I to do?" "Well you can stay with me. There may be casualties. Now Shh" Nick said to the computer program. He began fusing relays together, he wanted to get a message to the Captain. If they couldn't communicate with the outside, hopefully they could with the outside. He had an idea, He managed to bring up a location of the Captain up. "I'm sending you to the Captain's location. Tell her where I am and about Ensign Night. Here this will tell her how to communicate back with me. She'll need to activate several Holodeck routines and she may have to get a little dirty. BUT if it works we should be able to communicate." The EMH took the information. "Ready?" Nick said. "Here I go aga.." The EMH said as he fizzled out. (USS Dennison - Holodeck 1, Outside Facility Complex - EMH Program - 17:37) The EMH fizzled back into the Holodeck program instantaneously. He noticed the Captain walking around the perimeter of the building. He walked up to her and said, "A message from Lt. Semme" He said. He may have startled her a little. Davis asked "If I can locate their external security control console I can have the whole system down in 20 minutes. Then we can sneak in past the guards outside. However I suggest we wait till darkness. Our task will be a lot easier." Divay replied Grimmacing, Davis said, "I know it shouldn't take too long, but you're right. (Reply Trew, Davis) (Posted Ash Divay) (USS Dennison – Brefing room - ACSO Ens Dale Bracken - 0905) Dale entered the briefing room a few steps moments before Nymes and the new Engineering Officer, who was introduced as Jacobs, Dale nodded in greeting to him, but remained silent, listenting to the Commanders introduction to the meeting, or more correctly, his itteration that it wasn’t happening. to the Commander exchange between West and Nymes. "Now, Ensign Bracken, you will join me in the Ready Room after this meeting." “Yes Sir.” Dale spoke breifly, but the Commander’s attention had already passed onto Ensign Temerious. The ‘meeting’ drew to a close, Dale and Nymes followed West across the bridge, and headed into the ready room, Nymes began speaking almost as soon as the door had closed. Dale didn’t know anything about the symbiote’s previous hosts. She had figured that it would come up in conversation sometime, and that it would be rather rude just to come out and ask. Now however, it seemed that one of the previous hosts was an intel officer. "Dale, I have been going over the scans made by you and the rest of the team all night. I found something very unsettling in them. There seems to be a steady increase in rates of flux over the last 12 hours. Very small, but they are there. I had the computer crunch some numbers for me and not only are the results about what we were afraid of, they are worse." Despite her intimate involvment in all of this, Dale found herself edging closer to the screen, and was not surprised to see that Lewis was too. "Yes, there is a micro wormhole out there and we seem to be caught in it." Trevan stood up and stretched his arms. "Not only that, it is very small and is forming extremely slowly. Which leads me to believe it is being created artificially from the other side." “That’s why the readings weren’t running by what my hypothesis said they should be, Oh Dale you silly! Stupid! Thick little girl!! That’s what I was missing, the readings were taken from here, not from the source of the phenomena, I didn’t allow for the doppler shift in the neutrino eV energies.” Dale was suddenly aware of the attention from both of the other officers in the room, looking slightly irrtated with herself she waved an apology to the other two. (Reply West/Nymes iyw) "The other side, I presume, is a Doenitz-affilitated vessel?" “It’d need to be one hell of a vessel, a wormhole even this size would need far more energy than any normal vessel could produce.” (Reply West) "Well here is the problem," West continued, sighing, "the system malfunctions are occurring because we are not only in the vicinity of the event horizon, but in fact we are actually about three quarters the way into the wormhole's pre-cursor field. It seems to me, that if we don't get the hell out of here soon, the field will eventually grow strong enough to start reacting with our generators and then finally crush the hull like an egg. Since we are so close to the event horizon no ship could possibly help us as they would not even detect us. That is assuming we could even call for help this close to the field." Dale nodded, she was quite aware of what was likely to happen, her recent studies on ship design and her work with project darkstar had showed what excessive energies could do to a starship. West and the doctor continued discussions, neutrino effects, quantum radiation, Dale listened intently, a phrase of her fathers coming to mind, ‘ Up the proverbial creek without a paddle.’ "Dale, good work on everything but now is the hard part. I need to know if anything is scanning or detecting us from the other side. I hope not. I need you to do it very carefully. When I destroy this thing, I don't want anyone to know it was from us and for them to assume it was a natural event. If there is something in there, we need to know now. Dismissed." Dale sat back in her seat at this last, he was right, this was the hard part. Listening to sub-atomic interactions was tricky, but this? “Yes sir,” she said as she got up, exchanging a look with Nymes as they both left the ready room. “You remember when we left the academy Lew? Did you think that we’d be working on this sort of stuff within a couple of months? Guess I was just a little naïve eh? Figured that they’d wait ‘till I was at least a Lt Cmdr before hitting me with this sort of thing.” Dale smiled, the thrill of the chase awakening her again, ~now this,~ she thought to herself ~was something to get ones teeth into.~ (Reply Nymes) (Posted by Mark) (USS Dennison-Holodeck 1-CO Madison Davis-17:48) “And don’t come back!” The old man shouted, throwing an empty beer bottle at Madison and staggering away from her. “@$$hole,” she whispered under her breath. ~So much for getting information out of drunks at the local bar.~ Brushing the dirt off her uniform, she then walked across the street to what looked to be a library. ~They must have something in here.~ Walking in, she stopped for a moment and looked around. Taking a deep breath in, it she was surprised as it even smelled like an authentic library. “Miss…can I help you?” An older woman behind the desk asked. “Yes actually. I was doing a report for the local college and…” “Oh you must be from Province!” The librarian exclaimed. “We’ve had a lot of students come through here this week working on their thesis and research reports. So tell me dear, what is your report on?” Smiling for the first time in…since she had been in the holodeck, Madison replied, “I decided to take a harder approach on my report. I was looking for something on the main technological corporation down the road.” “Anything specific dear?” Madison looked at the librarian who had huge owl glasses about 3” thick. ~I hope this woman can’t identify me in a line up if I’m caught.~ “If you could show me where I could find some information about their company and what they produce, I would be interested in seeing some statistics.” Taking her by the arm, the librarian said, “Right this way dear.” It wasn’t long before she was standing in front of a whole section of books. When the librarian didn’t move, Madison finally said, “Thank you…I think I can manage from here.” “Alright dear, call if you need help.” Kneeling down, she saw dozens of books that had been written on this corporation. ~Just give me the damn blueprints,~ she thought, also indulging herself a little in the facts about the corporation. There were so many books there she couldn’t decide. Gathering an armload, she piled them on the nearest table and started leafing through them. (USS Dennison-Holodeck 1-CO Madison Davis-18:26) Realizing the time, she forgot she told Divay and Trew she’d meet them in the alley. They would probably be worried about her. In the time that she had sat down with the books, she had gathered emense information about the place, including her precious blueprints. Making copies of everything, she quickly folded the papers up and hid them so no one could tell she’d taken 10 cent copies for free. Putting the books away, she quickly thanked the librarian as she walked by, then walked out the door. (USS Dennison-Holodeck 1-CO Madison Davis-18:42) Creeping around the corner, she couldn’t see her men. “Divay? Trew?” She whispered. Not hearing anything, she decided it would be a bad idea to go any further. Just then she felt an arm tug at her elbow. Getting ready to defend herself, she realized it was Divay. Obviously they were going to question him on whether or not he was a witch. Will wasn't but he needed them to believe him. He had thought about his cover story for the last couple of hours and he was pleasantly pleased with it. Mainly due to his ace in the hole. The one thing that would for sure make them believe he was not a witch. "What is your name?" sounded off the chief interrogator. "No hablo ingles." Will responded. He had knowledge of the spanish language as his mother was spanish in origin and he had learned it. "No speak english well." Will said with an accent trying to make it seem convincing. "I asked you your name." The interrogator said slightly annoyed. "My name, ah mi nombre, my name is Gonzalo Rodriguez, soy de espana, I am from Spain. Si, de europa...eh europe." Will said hoping that they would buy his forgeiner act. "Mr. Rodriguez, a Spaniard, well then Mr. Rodriguez, can you tell me why you aided a witch, and that smoke and dark figure that was seen at your aid." "Eh, emmm, perdon, my english no so good, pero, es decir, I no witch, she no witch, dark figure, si es bruja, es decir, Witch." Will replied trying to sound foreign and doing a decent job. "What are you sayin? is that jibberish." "No, no ,no, es que, I am a witch hunter. I hunt witches, and was hunting a witch in woods, I chase witch from europe, he kill en my country. He come here, and I try and kill him. Girl no witch. Never see her before, but I know a witch when lo veo. When I see a witch I know." Will said, he prayed to God, because Will was a believer, one of the few left in the 25th century, that these holograms, that the AI believed him. "Witch hunter, do you have any other proof, do you have anything to symbolize that you are not a witch." "No soy bruja, I am not witch, witch es aliado del diablo, devil's ally, devil's ally would not dare, wear this, " Will said as he took the cross from around his neck out from under his shirt and showed it to the interrogator. "It is the mark of our lord Jesus. Un Cruz, un cruz" "Well, I'll be you wear the mark of the lord, but it does not prove anything. There are many witches able to wear crosses. It does prove you are no vampire." the interrogator said. Will's ace in the whole had failed. He would try one last thing. "Hear me out, por favor. I am no witch, a witch hunter a poor taveler. I come because my love was slain by a demon. The demon that tried to kill me there. I have no proof that I am no bruja, no witch, other than my word. But I swear that I am no witch. If you please, I can help you take down the demon, that witch, and his allies. Please, I can track them. I can aid you. Te puedo ayudar. Cree me, te lo ruego. I beg you, believe me. In the name of our Lord. Do not make a mistake." Will said. He went to begging. The cross didn't work. Will was ready to kill the hologram. But he tried to beg. The interrogator thought about it. "I will ask the judge. I will tell you my answer tommorow." With that two guards took Will back to his cell. Hopefully Will bought his freedom. She wasn’t certain that she had given West enough, she was expecting it to be thrown bak at her with a ‘Is that all you’ve done you silly little girl? Call yourself an ACSO?’. But he hadn’t, as West’s next actions were to prove to her. "Ensign, sit please." replied the Commander. Trevan activated the desktop viewer, "Computer using the relay antenna on-board the USS Clark, establish a link with Sub-space relay station 47." She was momentarily stunned, Apart from the fact that the last she had heard communications were offline, the fact that he was using 2 relay stations really threw her. ~Where in the hell was this communique going?~ The computer chirped it's reply then the logo of Fleet Intel appeared for a moment before switching to a young looking Captain. "Sir, I am Commander West on the USS Dennison. I was looking for.." he was interrupted before he could finish. "I know who you are Trevan. I know I don';t look like myself but it's me. Security reasons you understand." "Sir, this is Ensign Dale Bracken. She's the one you ought to be talking to. Our latest scans show exactly what you were afraid of. I'll let her explain." ~Debriefing Fleet Intel brass now ‘D’ what a day this is eh?~ “Thank you sir.”She replied, in what she hoped was a confident voice and posture. “I’ve been asked by Commander West to look at what’s been happening out here sir.” Dale was painfully aware, that at this very moment across countless distances, the officer that she was talking to was reading her file on another screen of her view. What, she wondered, information did they have on her that she didn’t even know about herself. Despite this thought, Dale felt herself begin to warm to the situation “What I’ve discovered is an apparantly artificial subspace phenomena, exact cause currently unknown. By the neutrino flux densities, and presence of verteron particles I can catagorically say that this was not natural, any more than that, I just don’t have the data, I’m inventing the science as we go as it is Sir. However, I have discovered that it can be monitored completely passivly by monitoring quantum interactions between high energy tau neutrinos and the verteron particles caused by the phenomena itself. I’m forwarding the details now for your lab boys to look at.” Dale tapped a few keys, initiating the file transfer. The Captain on the viewer made a few notes before replying. "Thank you Ensign, that is very useful information. I want regular scans made every five minutes and have the report sent to Commander West. See if you can get a definitive answer on the exact size and location of this anomaly" he then looked at Trevan, "Commander, I understand your position but I need those scans at any cost. Remember, support craft will be there if needed." and with that the screen winked out. ~Support craft?~ Dale was unaware that the confusion that she felt was plainly written across her face. ~how, where are they? I detected nothing on the scanners. What did he mean…if needed.?~ “Don't ask about them. You don't want to know what they are there for. Run your scans and report to me. I need some time in here, have tactical see if they can supply a few class three probes to help you out." “Yes Commander, I’m on it.” She paused uncertainly as she began to walk toward the door. “I’m going to have to tell them something sir, are we just ‘looking for whatever we hit?’ Sir…class three? "Ensign JG Chance Temerarious reporting as directed sir.” Trevan racked his brain to recall where he had heard that name before, "Ah yes, our new OPS officer. Welcome aboard. You will forgive me, we are in the middle of a crisis at the moment. Here is the situation." West then explained everything about the Holodeck malfunction and the explosion. The fact that most of the Bridge crew was in there and the fact the sensors were not detecting any life signs. "I am assuming they are still alive and they are counting on us to get them out. I am busy at the moment with some other matters, but please take your station and co-ordinate your efforts with Engineering. I am sure they will be glad to have an extra eye. Also, as you can see, we have no senior staff, but since your are the OPS officer, you have the Bridge. Dismissed." I don't know what it is either or I wouldn't have you on this and yes, I suppose we are looking for what we hit, since the jolt and these odd readings you showed, I don't think they are a coincidence. As you were." Dale nodded in reply, “Thank you Sir, right away,” before turning once more, this time leaving the ready room, the next part of the ever-complex jigsaw beginning to slot into place. (USS Dennison –Bridge, ACSO Ens Dale Bracken- 1730) Dale walked across the bridge, toward the officer currently stationed at the tactical post. She didn’t know the man, and really didn’t have the time to go through all the pleasantries. Which was a shame, as Dale didn’t like calling other Ensigns just by their rank. “Ensign, I need your assistance” She smiled gently as she spoke to him, not wanting it to see that she was ordering him to help, but doing so nonetheless. “Yes Ensign Bracken, how can I help?” Dale wasn’t surprised that he knew her name, she was after all the ACSO. “I need to monitor some very specific things over as large an area as possible. Commander suggests that tactical might lend us a few class 2’s? I also need the data to come direct into the main science station.” The duty tactical officer smiled, turning to the tactical station. “That should be no problem at all,” he paused, mulling the next question over in his mind. “What are we looking for?” Dale had thought about this, and had decided that a part truth would be more effective than a lie. “Whatever is powerful enough to put us dead in the water Ensign. That’s the funny thing about science. You don’t always have a clue about what it is you’re looking for, only that it’s there.” She caught his interested expression. “Sometimes we just make stuff up too.” She winked at him at the last, his smile turning into a grin of amusement. “Come on, let’s get these probes launched” (Reply any iyw, none) (Posted by Mark) (USS Dennison - Bridge –Ops ENS (JG) Chance Temerarious – 1730) Unaware of just how bad the situation was onboard the ship, Chance had to go from using the turbolift to climbing up the ladder-well, and back to using the ‘lift to get to the bridge. Sore and tired from the climbing that he had to do part of the way up, he was thankful that the turbolift worked for the last couple of levels to the bridge. When the ‘lift doors opened Temerarious straightened himself and his uniform and stepped onto the bridge, realizing just how busy everyone was, he took notice that no one occupied the captain’s chair. Walking over to the captain’s ready room, Temerarious braced himself for whatever lie ahead of him. Pressing the chime button, he waited patiently till he was given permission to enter. When the door slide open Chance walked up to the desk, came to the position of attention, saluting saying “Ensign JG Chance Temerarious reporting as directed sir.” (reply Cmdr West) (posted by Charlie Raschen) (USS Dennison - Bridge –Ops ENS (JG) Chance Temerarious – 1735) "I am assuming they are still alive and they are counting on us to get them out. I am busy at the moment with some other matters, but please take your station and co-ordinate your efforts with Engineering. I am sure they will be glad to have an extra eye. Also, as you can see, we have no senior staff, but since you are the OPS officer, you have the Bridge. Dismissed." Thinking to himself “What in the world have I gotten myself into. Grandpa Ed, God bless his soul, would never believe this in a million years”, but said to Cmdr. West “Yes Sir, I will make the necessary entries into the ship’s log.” Doing an about face, Chance left the ready room and proceeded to the Operation’s station. Once there he made the log entry placing him in charge of the bridge till properly relieved, and checked on the Star Hawk to make sure it was still where he left her, scanning the bridge log to get a better grasp of what is happening, and finally contacting Engineering. “Bridge to Engineering. This is Ensign Temerarious, the new Ops officer, is there anything I can do from up here to help out?” (reply Engineering) (posted by Charlie Raschen) (USS Dennison –Bridge, ACSO Ens Dale Bracken- 1815) There was something, something that she just wasn’t seeing. The probes had gone out about 45 minutes ago, manouvering slowly toward predetermined points that she and the Tactical Ensign had decided would provide maximum coverage. The data had started streaming in shortly afterward, and after taking a brief look, he had made a small whistling noise, before mumbling something about ‘all those numbers making his eyes hurt’ and returning to his station. That had been 40 minutes ago. And still now, she looked, almost passively, her eyes glazing over, the subconcious taking over, looking for whatever the concious mind wasn’t seeing, and sadly it fared no better. ~Think Dale, what does this mean. What does ANY of this mean - I’m staring at a screen full of~ “..Total, Nonsense Gibberish!” The last few words had been spoken out loud. She had drawn a few odd looks from some of the bridge crew. Waving an apology, she stepped back from the science station. She knew that the small outburst would be largely ignored, if chuckled over, most of the officers on the bridge knew her fairly well, knew how into a problem she would get, and how irritated she could become if things didn’t go exact to her plan. She also knew however that it was a warning, once she started getting to this point, it would be a little alarm bell to back off, get some food and sleep. Ordinarily, that’s exactly what she would have done. Stepping back up to the science station she began again. “Computer, display most recent neutrino-verteron interaction scan.” The display changed with a small beep of acknowledgement from the computer. Once again, nothing. Once again, the rush of sudden understanding, the sudden wave of that euphoric eureka moment failed completely to manifest itself. Of course she didn’t really expect it to happen that way. It was an odd fact of science that the most significant discoveries in history had been accompanied not by a cry of ‘eureka’, but by a rather puzzled scratching of the head and a mumble of ‘that’s weird.’ Somewhat randomly, and not without some upset, she remembered some words of her mother, who had been a marine SMaj. “Dale,” she had said, “the trick to finding something is twofold. The first, is not to look.” This had puzzled the 9 year old Dale until years later, “what’s the second mummy?” She had asked. “The second Dale” her mother had answered, taking the young Dale into a big hug “is to look for what isn’t there, not just what is.” All of that, though helpful to remember, didn’t lend her much more success now though. There was something, something that she just wasn’t seeing. (Reply any iyw) (Posted by Mark) (USS Dennison - Bridge –Ops ENS (JG) Chance Temerarious – 1830) For almost an hour Chance tried to reach someone in engineering via the communicator with no results. In between attempts, he used the Ops station to check and see what the others on the bridge were working on without being an interruption to them. He even tried to figure out a way to help, but like his mom used to say “sometimes the best way to help is to stay the hell out of the way.” Considering the organized chaos on the bridge and from what he has experienced in the past, that advice still held true. Once again he tried to contact engineering “Bridge to Engineering. This is Ensign Temerarious, the Ops officer, is there anything I can do from up here to help out?” Still no reply yet. “God, please let everyone down there be alright.” He said under his breath. His brow quirked, a slim frown forming on his mouth. While the Ensign was happy for work already, the fact her had been called to Sickbay couldn't mean anything good. Sighing, he moved to the door, eyeing the other files on the PADD, specifically the Deck Plans. Finding the Secondary Sickbay, he headed to the turbo lift and took it to that deck, and then walked down the hall and into the room. As for the current situation, I was on the bridge a few hours ago: the vessel is stuck on a Subspace sandbar of sorts, and it caused lots of system malfunctions, and knackered my sickbay, forcing us down here. Comms were out, shipwide, and the turbolifts were knocked offline. "Sammy here was the ranking engineer with the Acting Chief, Semme, and his ACEO Bashir stuck in the holodeck, he was fixing the ship, and quite brilliantly too, I must say. He was found with a security team trying to gain access to the holodeck, but why he has suffered injuries in there, I have no idea - I can only assume the breach in the hologrid caused a power surge that earthed through him, burning him like this... even then the safeties should have kicked in..." "I believe the chief was attempting to gain access to the holodeck, and was injured in the attempt, the burns look electrical, with some "normal" damage, probably due to holographic events without the safeties on." Nymes looked over the biobed, and to the MO administering to the Engineer. "He's sedated sir, as per instruction." "Good. Keep him that way until his burns are responded to treatment," Nymes responded. "Look, Mr Jacobs. The Acting Chief Engineer, Lt. Semme is stuck in the holodeck with his deputy, Ensign Bashier. Until they are recovered from the situation, we must assume that you can run the Engineering Section. If you will follow me." Nymes turned and walked out of the door, and to the jefferies tube access, descending to the Engineering Decks. (USS Dennison - Main ENgineering - CMO Lt.jg Lewis Nymes - 1901) As the Jefferies tube hatch opened, a clamourous scene met the CMO's eyes. Two crewmen were arguing, boisterously. A crowd had gathered around them, some calming them down, others, egging them on. Nymes noticed the two protagonists were of separate timelines: PO Huggins was a "futureteer" as they had become known, and he was arguing with PO Howe, a "Normie" in the chrono-slang that had been adopted throughout the ship. As the argument hit fever pitch, the first punch was thrown, Huggins had hit Howe, the latter staggering, blood blossoming from his nose, which had been neatly broken. "You...!" Howe shouted, as he jumped at the Futureteer, dragging him to the ground, and pummelling him. "THAT. WILL. DO." Nymes simply said. His tone was quiet, but authoritative. "This is not how we deal with things here. PO's Howe and Huggins, You will desist. Now." (reply Jacobs) Nymes pondered his next move, decided on a plan of action. "This is the new ACEO, Ensign Jacobs. I must apologise, Ensign, for the display you just saw: I have never witnessed such an event in this crew." Nymes turned back to the crowd. "You will follow the orders of Mr Jacobs. Chief Ulston is in a critical, but stable condition. I do not want to have to set up a theatre down here just so I can make sure you all behave yourselves... so make sure I don't have to." "Petty Officers Howe and Huggins will step forward, and follow me. Ensign Jacobs, you have engineering." (reply Jacobs) Nymes nodded at the new ACEO, and turned to the two POs. "Right, You two had better decide what you want to happen. The CO, FO and 2O are all indisposed at present, so you have both caught a break. Both of you have broken noses as well, but thats an aside. I may decide not to follow this up if I can be sure of your future conduct - note that I don't want to know who started it, or what was said: I don't care - you both are guilty of gross Misconduct. I have the evidence to turn you over to the brig in lieu of courtmartial, but as we need the Engineering department to sort this mess out, taking two of the more experienced engi's off the task is hardly "logical", to quote Lt. Semme. "I must warn you, that any further misdemeanours, be they insignificant, will be enough to change my mind on this matter, and it will be reported in my official log. At best you will get a slapped wrist from the Captain, at worst you will be cashiered out of the service. Do I make myself clear?" Nymes noticed that his words had the desired effect, and nodded. "Good. Now shake hands, apologise and get the work done." Nymes turned to leave, and the silence was broken by both men... "Sir, Could you possibly take a look at my nose?" "Doctor, My nose... will you fix it?" Frowning as he turned back, inwardly amused, The trill responded. "It hardly seems fair of me, I know, but just look at this Medical kit: no, I haven't got what I need here, and Sickbay is offline, and 2ndry is full. I can stem the bleeding, but you'll have to live with the scars of your actions for a while, til you get the systems repaired, and the crisis is over. "Now, both of you," Nymes said to the two chagrinned men, once the bleeding had stopped. "Report to Ensign Jacobs immediately, and do the work he orders you to do. If the other engineers have any other "bright ideas" you will be indicted as well. No more violence, gentlemen." Nymes gave them a bright smile, and left the room. (reply Jacobs) (posted by GC) (USS Dennison - Secondary Sickbay - ACEO Christopher Jacobs - 1845) "Look, Mr Jacobs. The Acting Chief Engineer, Lt. Semme is stuck in the holodeck with his deputy, Ensign Bashier. Until they are recovered from the situation, we must assume that you can run the Engineering Section. If you will follow me." Jacobs nodded, following quickly after Nymes. Only a quick, backward glance was spared to the writhing engineer on the biobed, head shaking slowly. ~"That could have been me, if I had gotten here earlier."~ Returning his attention to the medical officer, he gripped onto the ladder in the Jefferies Tube and began to descend, making sure not to step on his hands. (USS Dennison - Main Engineering - ACEO Christopher Jacobs - 1902) Christopher emerged from the tube, just as the first punch was thrown. The man known as Huggins had punched another man in the face, causing him to stumble back, with a broken nose, only to rush forward an tackle his attacker. "THAT. WILL. DO," called Nymes, his voice stern. In any other case, Jacobs would have let them fight it out for a bit, to let them release whatever tension had developed between them, though now was not the time. After introducing Jacobs to the rest of Engineering, Nymes continued, leaving the Ensign to stand awkwardly under the gaze of everyone else, "I must apologize, Ensign, for the display you just saw: I have never witnessed such an event in this crew." After issuing the crowd their orders, Chris smiled politely, nodding. "Forgive me if I don't remember all your names right away. I'll make sure I get them down once this.business.is over with." Moving to a station, the Ensign began to look through all the previous progress made. The first step would to be to make sure the men in the Holodeck were safe. The second would be to get out of the distortion. Despite his hard concentration, he couldn't help but laugh out loud when he heard the two men ask for the good doctor to fix their noses. He watched them approach him, arms crossing across his chest. Chris almost taunted them for their actions, but shaking his head, he got straight down to business. "How badly are the computers screwed up? Will I be able to locate anyone? How much do we have to work with?" (Reply Huggins and Howe) Pressing his Combadge, the Ensign attempted to contact Commander West, "Sir, this is Ensign Jacobs. He had the scars to prove how overboard and outlandish he could get. Smirking to himself he thought “I got hurt only during rescue missions, never during attacks.” Looking around the bridge and resting his gaze on West “Sir, I’ve got a couple of stupid ideas. Could we get a message to the captain by interfacing another holodeck with the one they are in now, and run the same program? Maybe, possibly, beam them out?” Knowing how crazy his ideas sounded to himself, he could just imagine how many on the bridge thought he had lost his mind. "You know, that is the best idea I have heard all day." he paused "In fact, it's the only idea I have heard." Trevan ran over the situation in his brain, turning over the numbers, "I don't know about the beaming idea. The sensors and computer both say there is no-one in there. I am hesitant to beam anything off the grid. But linking the other holodeck may be a better option at the moment. I will restore power to Holodeck 3. It's the best option as Holodeck 2 is in the quarantine area." Trevan tapped his security code into the panel on the chair and restored power to that area. In that time, he had seen more than he had ever conceived that he ever would. He had dreamed often about serving on board a fleet ship, but could never have guessed, that he would be wearing the uniform, on such a ship as this, at this time. He had worked hard, determined to honour his family and the uniform that he wore, and as such, had gained promotion already, admitedly, he was still only a crewman apprentice, but still, that meant that he was no longer on the bottom rung. He had become attached to the Sciences department as a technician, after showing an aptitude for the subject during his basic training. Since then, his eyes had become opened to a world far more complex than he could ever have imagined. He was currently working on something that the duty astrometrics officer had handed him. Truth be told, he didn’t really understand any of what was on the screen in front of him, but he understood that this was some project or other that Ensign Bracken was running from the bridge, so he didn’t mind putting the time in. So there he had remained, focused on the seemingly incomprehensible, trying to fathom some order out of the chaos that was in front of him, he doubted that he would lend anything to the mission, whatever it was, but he would certainly bust a gut trying. “Seems to have some kind of repatition Sir.” He called across the lab. This had become evident after the last scan had come in. “There’s some sort of pulse.” The duty officer strode over, his face interested, but dubious. “Oh? Explain!” “I can’t sir, this is all we’ve got without running other scans, there’s some kind of pulse, it’s irregular, but with s regular pattern, otherwise I’d’ve passed it off. Look.” Joseph pointed to a number of points on the screen in front of him. The officer nodded, “Okay Sanders, download it to a PADD and take it up to Bracken, I’m certain that she’ll want to see that.” “She’s off shift now sir, finished at 1730.” Sanders replied, his face puzzled, though he grabbed a PADD and downloaded the information to it. The officer shook his head, “She’ll still be on the bridge boy, take it up. Tell her it has the hallmarks of something. Something that…” The officer looked at the PADD in front of him “…has no business in this system. Hmm. Odd.” “Permission to leave post sir?” Sanders asked, obeying the formalities to the last. “Granted, get up to the bridge with that PADD.” (Reply none) (Posted by Mark) (USS Dennison, Bridge, Commander Trevan West, 1855) The Bridge was quiet for this time of day, most of the ship's senior officers were trapped below decks and the officers he did have were fresh. Too fresh for his liking, but they had proved extremely capable in handling any situation thrown at them. The OPS officer was gone, trying to get access to Holodeck One. "There, that should finish the log entries for today." Trevan said to himself in a whisper when his badge chirped. "West here go ahead" The voice on the other end was a crewman he met earlier in the day. =/\=Sir, Crewman Phale here, sorry to bother you sir but you did ask to be called if we needed your assistance down here in the computer core.=/\= "I did," he paused and looked around the bridge, "I am sorry Crewman but I am un-able to leave the Bridge. Regulations state that at least one ranking officer be on the bridge during a Red Alert." he closed the channel, launched himself out of his command chair and into the ready room. He placed his head in his hands and rubbed his bleary eyes. "I can't do it all myself, this is nuts!" "West to Bracken, you better have a report for me Ensign" (Reply Bracken) (Posted by Kerry Fletcher) (USS Dennison - Bridge- ACSO Ens Dale Bracken - 1851) =/\=as told by Lt.Nymes that you would be able to help me with the Holodeck situation. I was thinking we should at least get those safeties back on, if not get the entire holodeck. However, it seems like Commander West and Ensign Temerarious has an idea. Perhaps, if you have any idea, we could aid them?=/\= Dale nodded, “I agree, I’ll confess however, that I don’t know anything of the Commander’ plans. I’ll do what I can to assist you from up here, but I can’t leave my post here, as I’m up to my eyes in it here. I’m working on some stuff that can’t be interupted for any reason, namely, why one of the most advanced ships in the galaxy is currently completely dead in the water.” (Reply Jacobs iyw) Dale paused, the tiredness had caused her to snap slightly, and the poor ensign, whatever his name was, had borne the brunt. “I’m sorry Ensign, It’s been a really long shift, and it doesn’t look like I’m finishing any time soon, seems like I’m pulling a 24hr one. I’ll help you in any way I can, truth is anyone on board will tell you I’m a far better lab rat than grease monkey. You got any any ideas at all? What does the computer tell you about what is happening in the holodeck?” (Reply Jacobs) (Posted by Mark) (USS Dennison - Engineering - ACEO Ensign Christopher Jacobs - 1900) Jacobs stood, awkwardly silent, as Bracken went off on his rant. The young Ensign hadn't experienced the full force of what was going on right now, but he could understand the toll it'd taken on Dale's nerves. =^= "I'm sorry Ensign, it's been a really long shift, and it doesn't look like I'm finishing anytime soon, seems like I'm pulling a 24hr one. What does the computer tell you about what is happening in the holodeck." =^= Shaking his head and chuckling to himself, Jacobs pressed his combadge to reply, "Don't worry about it. Just relax so you can think clearly. I'll buy the drinks after this." Fingers danced along the computer's interface, searching for the answers he needed, though coming up almost completely empty handed. "Well, basically, the computer is telling me that the holodeck is empty, but there is a program running. However, when I try to override the system and shut it down, it tells me there is nothing running. A nasty malfunction, it looks like. My theory is that our problems are only going to be solved by getting out of the distortion, which would call for a scientific approach, not one from a grease monkey," he added, with a bit of a smirk and cheerful tone, hoping to ease the other Ensign's nerves. (USS Dennison - Bridge - ACSO Ens Dale Bracken - 1901) =/\=Well, basically, the computer is telling me that the holodeck is empty, but there is a program running. She was glad that the new Engineering Ensign hadn’t taken offence at her being a little snappy at him. The problem of the computer not recognising there was a program running was indeed a major malfunction, no doubt that Trewe, wherevever he was, was not happy at all. “Agreed Ensign, but keep working on it. There’s got to be something somewhere if the computer is saying that there’s notheing running when there clearly is. Has it lost contact with the holodeck susbsytems, or the memory buffers maybe? I’m kind of reaching, but thinking as a scientist, there has to be some logical reason. A spacial anomoly, even of this magnitude shouldn’t have this affect. Power surge across some subsystems or other perhaps? I’m out the loop a little on this I’m afraid, I’ve been on the main science station most of the shift.” (Reply Jacobs) "West to Bracken, you better have a report for me Ensign" “On my way Commander, Bracken out” she acknowledged the Commander's order, before speaking again to Jacobs. “Look I’ve got to report all my findings to West, I’ll catch up with you ASAP. Figure I’m stuck up here for the foreseeable though. Bracken out” (reply Jacobs) (posted by mark) (USS Dennison – Captain’s Ready Room - ACSO Ens Dale Bracken - 1905) Dale had made her way to the ready room, the door closing behind her. Reaching the desk she handed West another PADD for his ever-increasing collection. ~The privileges of rank~ she thought, her mind drifting slightly, wondering if her career would progress to the point where she was the one with the red uniform and the copious reports to plough through. “Ensign Bracken reporting as ordered Sir” She waited for him to read her report, waiting for him to get her to explain it to him. The report was troubling to say the least. Her findings would not put the Commander, or Starfleet Intel at ease, in fact, quite the opposite. The spacial anomoly, was the last of the problems, that was a mere side effect. The Cause was terrifying indeed. Dale knew, or at least suspected that quite a lot rested on her shoulders at the moment, and it was only going to increase. Good for her career maybe, but her coffee intake was going to increase rapidly. (Reply West) “I’m afraid that there’s no doubt sir. No doubt at all. "Have a seat." he said with almost no emotion at all. Trevan looked at the PADD and then back at Bracken. Dale replied before he could speak, possibly seeing the look in his eye. “I’m afraid that there’s no doubt sir. No doubt at all. I wasn’t certain until a few moments ago when young Sanders brought me the last Astrometric report up. He picked up a pulse, looks innocent enough, irregular, varying energies, varying intensities. Only man, at least, man trying not to look like man. I’m afraid what you and the rest of fleet intel is most scared of, is looking awfully like the truth.” Trevan shivered, "Very well, thank you Dale. Return to your duties for now." it was that last sentence, that hint of something to come, gave him reason to doubt himself. "Dismissed." During the trip though Chance tried twice per deck to make contact with anyone from engineering to ask if there was any one who could assist him with his mission, but alas there was nothing but static. Using the comm. unit in the passageway outside of the holodeck, Chance started speaking “Temerarious to bridge.” (reply Cmdr West) “Sir, I have been unable to reach anyone from engineering. "Computer, Music. Make it... happy, classical/jazz" As the music washed over the trill, he began to sink into his thoughts: ~What a day... - Promotion, Admiral Gri'ann leaving... being CMO, and then crisis: Captain and the FO locked in a holodeck... and Ele too.~ Nymes grimaced in shame as he forgot about Ele. ~ Then Bridge duty; Wilson, Trewe and Khran... and then Ulston... and his compatriots Howe and Huggins... what the heck has happened in Engineering..?~ Nymes finally got up, making himself a natural trillian tea, finally glad that the replicators were offline. ~And two new crewmen join. Commander West is... secretive: not normal for a Strategic Operations man... well, not that normal. Dee seemed stressed too, on the bridge. Wonder what she's up to now?~ Nymes grinned as he recollected Ash dancing with Dee earlier on in the day, his talent at lipreading derived from his past as "Whiskey" Nymes helping him out... ~Poor Ash...!~ As Nymes returned to his makeshift bed, he continued to be lost in thoughts: Commander Falkirk, Divay's History & associated coverup... Ele's passion for music... Parazia's life... As Lewis' vision was distracted by something, his gaze fell on his bedside desk in the next room, and the two pips in a case, forever opened on it: His sister's Cadet pips, and her fighter squadron wings; both were sooty and burnished, but there was no way he'd evr get them restored: it was the only thing left that reminded him of her... his flesh and blood. Despite all the histories, all the lives and all the memories swirling around in his mind, Lewis Nymes' conciousness was solely in command of those memories. Everything took longer than it should. There was a ringing in his ears, a regular beeping noise, but not one of the crowd he was in responded to it. Sammy looked down at his clothing - he was wearing a long sleeved brown shirt, a black jacket over the top of it, his battered jeans dragging on the freshly cut grass, his vision distorted to a strange blue-violet colour by the glasses he was wearing... his senses on fire, his brain working faster through all the calculations he was struggling through at the engineering camp he was posted to. He looked around, the crowds of people that he had been in just moments ago had vanished. The environment he was standing in seemed drained of colour, the horizon turning a brilliant white, followed by the grass, rushing towards him. As the wave of light crashed over him, all he was aware of was the monotonous beeping noise, tapping out a rhythm on his soul. Paralysed in his mind, Sammy's eyes opened, and the vista in front of him had changed: it was a cream-coloured bulkhead, his arms were on fire, every joint cried out in pain. The chief tried to open his mouth to scream out in pain, but no noise would usher from his throat; his limbs would not move... His eyes flicked from one side to another, attempting to get the attention of someone, anyone, but to no avail; despite himself, Sammy felt as if he was falling backwards, into the waiting pool of light once more, and found himself back in the plains of Earth, back in the crowd, back in the waters of his soul. Crossing his quarters to his replicator he ordered a trillian tea, and some breakfast, a midnight feat a habit from his academy days with Hudson and Night. As the Doctor finished his repast, the computer issued a faint beep, announcing the hour. Sighing, Nymes showered and put his uniform on, and briskly wandered to Sickbay, curious as to how the EO/CPO was doing. (USS Dennison - Secondary Sickbay - CMO Lt.jg Lewis Nymes - 0410) Sickbay was dimly lit; as befitted a back up situation in a high alert level. "PO Hedges, report." "No changes overnight sir. Sammy is still comatose." Nymes frowned; the treatment should, and was working on the peripheral injuries. Contemplating his next option, Nymes bemoaned the fact that there wasn't a medically trained betazoid on board; this situation could help Ulston recover AND the ship, Ulston's exposure to the Holodeck could have some useful intel... "Ok, I want you to go through his scans again. Anything out of the ordinary, I want to be informed: there isn't any reason for this man to be in a Coma... none at all. I'll be on the Bridge." Nymes walked out of the Sickbay, and made his way to the Bridge - the turbolifts between decks 6 and 2 were working, finally, but the final deck still needed a ladder climb. (USS Dennison - Bridge - CMO Lt.jg Lewis Nymes - 0429) The bridge was still a hive of activity: Lt. Khran was sitting in the Command chair, his eyes blurry with fatigue, or maybe the effects of his medication were wearing off - in any case, the andorian hadn't noticed the trill as he stepped onto the bridge, though the Ops-man had. Nymes quickly descended to his level, and spoke directly to the TAC/SEC. "Lt. Khran, its 0430; Your watch ends now, please go to your quarters and rest." "There is still a requirement for all officers at there posts, Doctor." The andorian almost barked. "No, Mr Khran, there is a requirement for all officers who are fit to be at their posts to be at their posts; and i passed you fit yesterday for that reason. Now you may have mistaken my recommendation as something you can ignore. It is not: report to your quarters, Lieutenant - and plenty of fluids, report to PO Hedges if you need medical attention..." Khran finally turned to the CMO and a flash of ... thanks? twinkled in his eyes, as he grunted, and stepped out of the command chair, making his way, with difficulty to the access hatch. Nymes, satisfied by the TAC/SEC attitude and actions, sat down in the command chair, pulling up the duty logs and reports from the evening. As he perused the information, he asked the bridge for general reports. Damn blood suckers should stay in written novels, not on a holodeck. No point in complaining too much, I need to get to sickbay and get patched up” (USS Dennison – Crew Quarters –Ops ENS (JG) Chance Temerarious – 0400) Giggling to himself, Chance was thinking about the poor medic that bandaged him up, as he spoke to himself” Poor guy, I don’t think he ever saw so many scares in his life. That bout in the holodeck brings me up to 15 scars.” While getting ready for some sleep, he turned and looked at his computer console. Dragging his feet along the deck, with his head hung low mumbling to himself “I hate doing reports.” As he sat down at the desk he began with the short, short version of his misadventure in Holodeck 3. “Computer, record message” “Recording” replied the computer simply. “Last night I was in Holodeck 3 until 0255 hrs this morning. While expecting to enter a training program involving the Borg onboard the U.S.S. Dennison, what I did enter into was anything but. Instead the program involved vampires in the late 18 to early 1900s. While inside I found 1 person dead whom I could not identify simply because I didn’t know that person. I was unable to find anyone else. Before I stopped the program this morning I received 2 wounds from a vampire, 1 slash across my back, and 1 pair of punchers on my neck. I have already received medical attention from a medic on duty in sickbay. I did manage to kill the vampire, with a machete I had stolen from a farmer, by stabbing it in the heart to slow him down and thin decapitating him.” Looking over his report Chance nodded to himself saying “Computer, send message to Commander West” With a sigh Chance walked over to the large window and gazed at the Star Hawk, the only thing that was truly his and wondered when he will be at her controls again. (USS Dennison – Bridge –Ops ENS (JG) Chance Temerarious – 0720) Once on the Bridge, Temerarious entered the Ready Room in line with the other 3 that were summoned. Taking a seat at the table, he stared at Commander West with tired eyes. Commander West stood up and addressed his staff. "People, I am not one for making fancy speeches so I will get right to the point." West cleared his throat and continued saying "Before I begin, this meeting falls within the Fleet secrecy guidelines so what I am about to say is classified and there will be no record of this meeting taking place." Chance watched every one in the room as they interacted with one another trying to keep up with whom was doing what and why, but starting to fall behind. Then like he got smacked in the back of the head, Temerarious heard Commander West say "Chance, you are now assigned as my right hand man on the bridge, OPS will be handled by Ensign Martine. Holodeck problems can wait. If we don't get out of this distortion, it won't even matter. You are all dismissed." With that last announcement, Temerarious stood up and sleepily went to the bridge. The Bridge was in a total state of confusion with others manning stations they were never assigned to originally. Not having a specific job on the bridge for the time being, Chance just simply stayed out of the way in the organized chaos. Suddenly Commander West entered the Bridge "Doctor, join me in the ready room please, Chance you have the Bridge." “Yes, Sir” was all Chance said as he sat in the center seat as the doctor left the bridge. The alarm had started a few moments ago, Dale didn’t remember setting it, but thought no more of it as she got up and headed toward the shower. “Lights, coffee, bacon sandwich, and turn that infernal alarm off.” She said irritably, the computer however following her commands, a large mug of strong, black coffee materialised in the replicator alongside her customary ‘rush breakfast’. A few moments later, a shower, a clean uniform and the breakfast hastily consumed, she began to feel a touch better, the tiredness not eliminated, merely put off for the moment. (USS Dennison - Bridge - ACSO Ens Dale Bracken - 0430) “Thank you, I’ll take over here.” She spoke gently to the Ensign currently assigned the science station. “I need you down in Astrometrics, keep an eye out for anything. Tell him to keep at it.” The Ensign nodded in acknowledgement , before turning and leaving the bridge, leaving Dale to man the science station, which she immediately unlocked, before catching up on the nights scans and reports. Dimly she heard Nymes ask each of the stations for a report, turning to him she spoke comfortable and confident, though slightly careful of what she reported, as Nymes was not aware of any of the classified nature of their situation. “No changes as to our situations Sir. Spacial anomoly unchanged in size, magnitude or location, all scans continuing, Astrometrics reporting regularly. All science systems working A1, latest scans of entire locality are with you now. You can relax Dr Nymes, Dale’s got your back.” Dale winked at him as she drew her report to a close. She counted him as a close friend and felt that she could be quite a bit less formal with him, even though he now outranked her not only by two ranks, but also as he was the CMO. It may have only been a couple of months since they transferred on board, but already they were the "old guard" of newly graduated academy students; and the cohort on the Dennison wasn't without casualties - looking back, Nymes could consider himself lucky. William Galway, the first CoOPS, had been medically incapacitated by Porthells, the same protagonist who had taken care of Sigursson and Maines. There hadn't been time to realise how good a man Galway was, before he was transferred back to base for treatment; nor had the trill been able to get to know Maines, the CEO from the future. Dale relaxed slightly into this monotony of check and double check. After the chaos of the previous day, it was all very welcome. “Okay, her we go.” Dale began. “All duty personel are at their stations or where they sould be by standing order.” She paused, the screen changing to the next of the scans. “Holodeck 3 is currently powered down, but manned as expected. She turned to Nymes, “I don’t know” she shrugged “Computer says it’s locked down and empty, so does the image on screen, but we both know that that’s not correct. It’s beyond me expertise sir. Ensign Jacobs was asking me about it yesterday evening, he was working on it I think, he may have come up with something, don’t know if he’s on shift though.” (Reply Nymes, anyone on bridge) (Posted by Mark) (USS Dennison - Bridge-CMO Lt.jg Lewis Nymes - 0447) “Yes sir” Dale replied, Nymes was struck by her professionalism, even with a lack of sleep; not that anyone was getting sleep during this war. “Okay, her we go. All duty personel are at their stations or where they sould be by standing order.” She paused, the screen changing to the next of the scans. “Holodeck 3 is currently powered down, but manned as expected. Holodeck 2 is completely locked down and curently de-activated. Holodeck 1 is…I don’t know” she shrugged “Computer says it’s locked down and empty, so does the image on screen, but we both know that that’s not correct. It’s beyond me expertise sir. Scans are coming up completely blank.” She sighed with the irritation, rubbing her temples slightly. "Thatas ok, Ensign, keep me posted on any changes." She nodded, “I know Sir, I’m staying on it for now. Ensign Jacobs was asking me about it yesterday evening, he was working on it I think, he may have come up with something, don’t know if he’s on shift though.” "We will see. I believe he was working overnight, I'll review his reports for now. Back to work, everyone" (reply any iyw, none) (posted by GC) (USS Dennison, Crew Quarters, Commander Trevan West, 0700) With the light sleep he had that night, Trevan was understandably edgy. His thoughts had drifted throughout the night, looking back on what has happened to him, his career and what is transpiring now on the Dennison. "Computer, Coffee. Hazelnut and Vanilla, cream, hot please." he said to the replicator. The hot and cozy drink appeared and he grasped it with both hands, trying to keep awake. Trevan wandered over to his terminal and brought up that nights scans of the area and proceeded to go over them. "God, how I hate looking at these things" he said aloud to himself. The reading proceeded for about an hour when something caught his eye. "Computer, go back and display log 23." Within seconds the log was on the screen, "Now compare that with the most recent scan and check for any increase in the variables." The results were astounding to say the least. He placed his mug on the desk and reached over to the comm. panel. "West to Bracken, Temarious, Dr Nymes, and ACEO Ulston, report to the briefing room in 20 minutes. West out." (reply all) The Briefing room was quiet before everyone joined them, the starfield was still and the small hum of the ships' air processors could be heard. Trevan eased back in his chair at the head of the table, placing himself in a relaxed state before the others joined him. He was doing everything he could to keep himself from jumping out of the nearest airlock and it seemed to be working for the moment. The doors slid open and the four officers came in single file and grabbed a seat at the table. They all looked at him with burning stares. Apparently they were not too happy about being pulled away from their duties so suddenly, but then, perhaps he was reading too much into it. Commander West stood up and addressed his staff. "People, I am not one for making fancy speeches so I will get right to the point." He cleared his throat. "Before I begin, this meeting falls within the Fleet secrecy guidelines so what I am about to say is classified and there will be no record of this meeting taking place." he moved up the table a bit. "First," he looked at Ulston," Chief, I am sorry but I need you back in Engineering. You are to put all systems in emergency mode except propulsion and weapons. Divert life support and keep it active in emergency shelter areas, main duty stations and Holodeck One and Three." (reply Ulston) "Secondly Doctor, you are to assume command of the bridge for the moment, regulations require a command crewmember to be in the centre seat during a Red Alert." (reply CMO) "I don't care at the moment what is going on in Sickbay, YOU WILL assign your duties to someone else." he ordered. He could see the look of shock on all the faces. "Now, Ensign Bracken, you will join me in the Ready Room after this meeting." he diverted his attention to Chance, "Chance, you are now assigned as my right hand man on the bridge, OPS will be handled by Ensign Martine. Holodeck problems can wait. If we don't get out of this distortion, it won't even matter. You are all dismissed." (USS Dennison, Bridge, Commander Trevan West, 0735) The Bridge was in a total state of confusion with others manning stations they were never assigned to originally. "Doctor, join me in the ready room please, Chance you have the Bridge. (Posted by Kerry Fletcher) (Reply ALL)!!! (USS Dennison - Bridge - Lt.jg Lewis Nymes, 0900) Nymes had just tapped out his readiness to West's communique, and now, with the twenty minutes nearly elapsed, was thinking about what it could concern. That it would be a senior staff meeting, there was no doubt at all in the trill's mind; but asking a comatosed engineering rating to attend may have been pushing it a little. Nymes had double checked with Sickbay the moment the call had come in: Sammy Ulston was not in a fit state to proceed anywhere but intensive care, and the dangers of power failures in secondary sickbay were problematic to the EO/CPO's future prognosis. Making his executive decision; Nymes had opened a comlink ten minutes ago, ordering Christopher Jacobs, ACEO to attend in his place. Nymes only hoped the new ensign would turn up on time. (reply Jacobs) As the commander entered the bridge, Nymes acknowledged him, but didn't follow until the rest of the team had assembled, joined, finally, by Jacobs. "Ensign Jacobs; briefing room now." (reply Jacobs) Taking one last look at the staticy viewscreen, Nymes joined the rest of the staff in the briefing room. (USS Dennison - Briefing Room - CMO Lt.jg Lewis Nymes - 0905) Nodding to West to start proceedings as the trill finally joined the rest of the table; Nymes relaxed into his chair, but was aware that the commander was addressing the wrong man. "Before I begin, this meeting falls within the Fleet secrecy guidelines so what I am about to say is classified and there will be no record of this meeting taking place. First," he looked at Ulston," Chief, I am sorry but I need you back in Engineering. You are to put all systems in emergency mode except propulsion and weapons. Divert life support and keep it active in emergency shelter areas, main duty stations and Holodeck One and Three." "Sorry, Commander, this is Ensign Jacobs, our ACEO. Chief Petty Officer Ulston remains in a stable but comatose state in Secondary Sickbay. Ensign Jacobs is more that qualified to take on his role, if he is less experienced." Nymes stated before anyone could interject. (reply Jacobs, West) "Secondly Doctor, you are to assume command of the bridge for the moment, regulations require a command crewmember to be in the centre seat during a Red Alert." "Understood, Commander. However, Sickbay will need a Docto-" Nymes began. "I don't care at the moment what is going on in Sickbay, YOU WILL assign your duties to someone else." he ordered. He could see the look of shock on all the faces. "As you say, sir. The EMH can handle emergencies as and when." "Now, Ensign Bracken, you will join me in the Ready Room after this meeting." he diverted his attention to Chance, "Chance, you are now assigned as my right hand man on the bridge, OPS will be handled by Ensign Martine. Holodeck problems can wait. If we don't get out of this distortion, it won't even matter. You are all dismissed." Nymes rose, and left the briefing room. heading back to his station; centre chair. (USS Dennison - Bridge - CMO lt.jg Lewis Nymes - 0920) Nymes had sat back in the chair, and was reviewing system reports: his last orders had been checks on the isolation of systems related to the holodecks: the EMH being a primary focus. Now Nymes was on the bridge, for all intents and purposes a red-collar (rather than the more fetching blue); emergency medical cover was essential. "Doctor, join me in the ready room please, Chance you have the Bridge." West said, bringing Lewis out of his reading. Nymes followed the Commander to the Ready room, waited for the doors to close behind them and just asked the question needed: "Whats going on, sir? There's something going on that requires the emergency power shifts, and while I don't need your information to do the job, I just know there's something else going on... Its the Trammler in me..." Ollie "Whiskey" Trammler had been a Starfleet field operative a full decade before. His joining to the Nymes symbionte had been the subject of much discussion, as a possible intelligence leak in the future; but events conspired to make it essential to provide a fitting cover story for a life undercover. His service had been lengthy, and as such things often are, undecorated; his successes acknowledged in a small circle; his failure, fatal. (Reply West, ?Bracken, any) (posted by GC) (USS Dennison, Crew Quarters, ACEO Ensign Christopher Jacobs, 0900) Jacobs looked up with cloudy vision, a sleep induced glaze blurring his searching gaze. The startling buzz his Combadge offered to him from his nightstand had roused him from sleep and, slowly, achingly, the Ensign pushed himself to his feet, throwing on his uniform. Nymes, one of the only officers Jacobs had formally met, required his presence on the Bridge and it was his duty to show up. (USS Dennison, Bridge, ACEO Ensign Christopher Jacobs, 0903) Stepping off the holodeck, Christopher walked towards the Medical Officer, saluting him respectfully. "Sir, you needed me?" "Ensign Jacobs; briefing room now." A bit puzzled, the Ensign nodded, moving into his ordered destination. (USS Dennison - Briefing Room - ACEO Ensign Christopher Jacobs - 0905) "Sorry, Commander, this is Ensign Jacobs, our ACEO," Nymes had corrected West, who'd mistaken him for Ulston, "Chief Petty Officer Ulston remains in a stable but comatose state in Secondary Sickbay. Ensign Jacobs is more that qualified to take on his role, if he is less experienced." This only served to confuse Jacobs more. He'd thought everyone had known the other Engineer was out of commision. "My apologies, Jacobs, you will return to engineering and proceed as ordered." Nodding to Commander west, Jacobs simply stated, "Sir, It is no problem. I'll make sure to do my duties just as well as Ulston did, sir." Exited the room, Jacobs quickly made his way to Engineering, a grin on his face. ~Well, at least it'll look good on my record.~ (USS Dennison - Engineering - ACEO Ensign Christopher Jacobs - 0915) Setting to work quickly, the ACEO began to override the security settings, setting the ship's sytems to emergancy, excluding propulsion and weapons, then switched life support to the designated areas. Double checking his efforts, Chris tapped his combadge, contacting Commander West. "Sir, I've done as ordered. Anything else?” (USS Dennison, Briefing Room, Commander Trevan West, 0906) "Sorry, Commander, this is Ensign Jacobs, our ACEO. Chief Petty Officer Ulston remains in a stable but comatose state in Secondary Sickbay. Ensign Jacobs is more that qualified to take on his role, if he is less experienced." Nymes stated before anyone could interject. Without the hint of embarrassment Trevan apologised "My apologies, Jacobs, you will return to engineering and proceed as ordered." (USS Dennison, Ready Room, Commander Trevan West, 0907) Trevan strolled at a fast pace across the Bridge and into the Ready Room with the two officers in tow. Just as the door shut he heard Nymes speak up. "What's going on, sir? There's something going on that requires the emergency power shifts, and while I don't need your information to do the job, I just know there's something else going on... Its the Trammler in me..." Trevan didn't reply right away, he took a seat at the desk and told the two to sit down. Trevan stared at them for quite some time in silence before proceeding. "Doctor, hypothetically speaking, if the crew was exposed to neutrino emissions for even a short period, what can we expect?" Trevan listened very carefully to his medical officer as he laid out everything. "I see. Very well," he continued to address the Doctor, "I see that one of your previous hosts was in Starfleet Intel. That's good to know. I was going over your files and saw that you already have clearance which saves me a headache or three." he smiled at him. The smile quickly faded back into his usual depressed look. "Dale, I have been going over the scans made by you and the rest of the team all night. I found something very unsettling in them." "There seems to be a steady increase in rates of flux over the last 12 hours. Very small, but they are there. I had the computer crunch some numbers for me and not only are the results about what we were afraid of, they are worse." He looked up to see both officers inching ever so slightly closer, "Yes, there is a micro wormhole out there and we seem to be caught in it." Trevan stood up and stretched his arms. "Not only that, it is very small and is forming extremely slowly. Which leads me to believe it is being created artificially from the other side." (reply any) "Well here is the problem," he paused and sighed, "the system malfunctions are occurring because we are not only in the vicinity of the event horizon, but in fact we are actually about three quarters the way into the wormhole's pre-cursor field. It seems to me, that if we don't get the hell out of here soon, the field will eventually grow strong enough to start reacting with our generators and then finally crush the hull like an egg. Since we are so close to the event horizon no ship could possibly help us as they would not even detect us. That is assuming we could even call for help this close to the field. Trevan turned to the Doctor, "Doc, you are to help evacuate the forward sections of the hull and see to it that everyone is in a shelter area. Have security help. When you are completed, report back to the bridge." "My next question is, what are the affects of quantum radiation from our torpedoes at point blank range with full shields?" "Ok, see to it everyone is inoculated. Any other problems that you can foresee?" (reply Nymes) Trevan turned his attention to Dale Bracken, "Dale, good work on everything but now is the hard part. I need to know if anything is scanning or detecting us from the other side. I hope not. I need you to do it very carefully. When I destroy this thing, I don't want anyone to know it was from us and for them to assume it was a natural event. If there is something in there, we need to know now. Dismissed." (Posted by Kerry Fletcher) (reply All.) (USS Dennison - Ready Room - CMO - Lt.jg Lewis Nymes, 0912) "Doctor, hypothetically speaking, if the crew was exposed to neutrino emissions for even a short period, what can we expect?" Nymes had walked into it, and responded matter of factly, a learned response from many ward rounds. "Neutrinos are subatomic particles; the presence of elevated neutrinos may indicate the presence of a ship -- possibly cloaked. Wormholes emit neutrinos before opening - one of the few signs we can detect. High level, sustained exposure hasn't really been examined; I can't guarrantee safety to organic matter. I would assume there could be genetic damage to any persons exposed, with resulting medical conditions manifesting within a fortnight. Problems could be from a general malaise, to multi-organ failure. I can't be specific, sir." "I see. Very well, I see that one of your previous hosts was in Starfleet Intel - That's good to know. I was going over your files and saw that you already have clearance which saves me a headache or three." West said, but the smile he gave him was rapidly disappearing. "Dale, I have been going over the scans made by you and the rest of the team all night. I found something very unsettling in them. There seems to be a steady increase in rates of flux over the last 12 hours; Very small, but they are there. (reply West, Bracken) "Well here is the problem," West continued, sighing, "the system malfunctions are occurring because we are not only in the vicinity of the event horizon, but in fact we are actually about three quarters the way into the wormhole's pre-cursor field. It seems to me, that if we don't get the hell out of here soon, the field will eventually grow strong enough to start reacting with our generators and then finally crush the hull like an egg. Since we are so close to the event horizon no ship could possibly help us as they would not even detect us. That is assuming we could even call for help this close to the field." Nymes knew enough of the science to understand the conundrum; without a good sensor lock, there would be no knowledge that the Dennison was even here. West turned to Nymes, giving him orders. "Doc, you are to help evacuate the forward sections of the hull and see to it that everyone is in a shelter area. Have security help. When you are completed, report back to the bridge." "Understood, sir." Nymes turned to leave, stopping at the door as West continued. "My next question is, what are the affects of quantum radiation from our torpedoes at point blank range with full shields?" Looking him in the eye, Nymes gritted his teeth and just said two words. "Not. Good." "Ok, see to it everyone is inoculated. Any other problems that you can foresee?" "Any pre-prescribed innoculation is based on short term, low dose radiation. We are, ballpark, not in this analysis. any intervention I can come up with will act short term, and may have no discernable effect." Trevan turned his attention to Dale Bracken, "Dale, good work on everything but now is the hard part. I need to know if anything is scanning or detecting us from the other side. I hope not. I need you to do it very carefully. When I destroy this thing, I don't want anyone to know it was from us and for them to assume it was a natural event. If there is something in there, we need to know now. Dismissed." (reply West, Bracken) (posted by GC) (USS Dennison – Brefing room - ACSO Ens Dale Bracken - 0905) Dale entered the briefing room a few steps moments before Nymes and the new Engineering Officer, who was introduced as Jacobs, Dale nodded in greeting to him, but remained silent, listenting to the Commanders introduction to the meeting, or more correctly, his itteration that it wasn’t happening. to the Commander exchange between West and Nymes. Figured that they’d wait ‘till I was at least a Lt Cmdr before hitting me with this sort of thing.” Dale smiled, the thrill of the chase awakening her again, ~now this,~ she thought to herself ~was something to get ones teeth into.~ (Reply Nymes) (Posted by Mark) (USS Dennison – Bridge - CMO Lt.jg Lewis Nymes - 0915) “You remember when we left the academy Lew? "In my experience, Dee, nothings that simple - as a cadet I had to treat a holographic Admiral Gr'iann, and then let him die during triage; and my first posting was working as his ACMO." Nymes grinned, aware that it was imperative that those not in the loop were kept out of it for as long as possible. (reply Bracken) Nymes walked to the tactical station, and tapped a text command to Ensign Marlous, requesting her presence in the briefing room. (Reply none) (Posted by GC) (USS Dennison - Ready Room - Commander Trevan West, 0913) "The other side, I presume, is a Doenitz-affilitated vessel?" Trevan looked at the man, "Your guess is as good as mine at the moment Doc. Let us assume yes, but it could be any number of things. Intel believes the opposing side may be trying to create artificial wormholes as a method of attack. think about it. Open a wormhole at point A, and it opens in the atmosphere around some planet well inside their defence systems. The planet most likely would be wiped out in a matter of moments." "My next question is, what are the affects of quantum radiation from our torpedoes at point blank range with full shields?" asked Trevan Looking him in the eye, Nymes gritted his teeth and just said two words. Nymes grinned at her, Dale was aware for a moment, just one tiny second, that they were just two people, two friends just sharing a conversation, just passing the time. Then, the enormity of what they each had to do returned with a vengance. Dale nodded to him the traces of her happy-go-lucky, amiable nature had all disappeared. She clapped him on the back as he passed her. “I’d Best get to it, got a whole lot of Science to invent.” Dale was never sure if he’d heard her. Undoubtedly the task ahead was already encompassing the both of them in each of their own ways. Perhaps later they’d catch up and exchange notes over a drink or two, but for the moment, they were each of them alone in their responsibilities. (Reply None) (Posted by Mark) (USS Dennison - Briefing Room - CMO - Lt.jg Lewis Nymes, 0935) "Ensign Marlous, reporting as ordered, sir." "Good. I want you to co-ordinate a ship wide exercise. I want an evacuation plan activated for each of the ship sections, with survival estimates for high level radiation exposure for each sector. This includes Sickbays. When the plans are in place, please report to the bridge." Nymes said, hoping that his request, during a ship-wide crisis wasn't going to push the plausibility out of the window. "Aye, sir. When do you need this done?" she replied. "Yesterday." Nymes stated, calmly, authoritatively. "Understood. Give me 25 minutes, sir?" "You have 15; Dismissed." Nymes sat back at the head of the briefing table, and pondered the next move. (reply none) (posted by GC) (USS Dennison - Briefing Room - CMO - Lt.jg Lewis Nymes, 0944) Nymes stepped back onto the bridge, nodding to Chance as he did so. "Mr Temarious. (reply Temerarious) Nymes looked back at the access hatch at the moment Marlous exited it, PADD in hand, and having brushed herself down, walked to the CMO. "The plans are valid, and functional, sir. Ready to implement on demand." "Good work, Ensign." Nymes said. "Report to station." Nymes walked to the OPS station, composing his message in his head before he broadcast it to the ship. It had to be convincing, but also a well-concieved fraud. "Chance, Start broadcast." "All hands, this is the bridge. All runners, receive this message, check in with the Ops panel when it is relayed. This is a Priority - One intraship order. The ship is to go to emergency status; all personnel in the outer compartments are to relocate to allocated safe-zones. Medical teams to follow Order "November Three Alpha". Engineering teams to lock down all systems, and maintain red alert. Security details to all safe zones. I repeat, this Vessel is moving to an Emergency status, and will follow safe-zone protocols: report to designated stations. All team leaders, report in to Ops on completion of the order. Bridge out." (reply any) "Nymes to Sickbay. Prep medical teams with general radio-protective agents, replicate as many doses as you can. Innoculate all crew. Nymes out." (reply any) "Computer, this is Dr Nymes, Ship-wide Medical alert. Lock down biofilters, raise level 10 forcefields around safe areas, override authorisations CMO, 2O and above. Nymes said to Chance as he entered the bridge. As he starts punching in the commands to record Chance replies “Ready when you are sir.” Just then Marlous entered the bridge and there was a brief exchange between her and Nymes. "Chance, Start broadcast." Chance broadcasted the message as directed, but then went up to Lt Nymes “Sir, remember yesterday I had to my emergency transporter to beam aboard from my ship because the bay doors would not function properly? Sir, the Star Hawk is still holding station to the Dennison. Could we somehow use her to help with this situation?” As Chance finished speaking his Ops board started lighting up. So Chance returned to his station and the job at hand. (reply Nymes) (posted by Charlie) (USS Dennison – Bridge – CMO Lt.jg Lewis Nymes – 0947) Nymes nodded to West as the broadcast finished, but before he could speak his attention was caught by the Ops ensign. “Sir, remember yesterday I had to use my emergency transporter to beam aboard from my ship because the bay doors would not function properly? Sir, the Star Hawk is still holding station to the Dennison. Could we somehow use her to help with this situation?” Nymes thought about the answer. As far as he knew, the Star Hawk had been redirected by the 52nd fleet to a safe-zone, as per regulations. It was theoretically possible that it would have renagaded on direct orders, but unlikely. A more plausible explanation was the external sensors were still malfunctioning. "A useful suggestion, Ensign, but according to regs, the vessel shouldn't still be in the local area. Patch the results to the CONN station, and I'll review them there." Nymes replied, displacing Ensign Martine, an opsman, primarily, but learning his craft at CONN, from his position. "All non-essential bridge crew to report to emergency stations." Nymes watched as the contingency staff filed out of the bridge, leaving West, Temerarious, Bracken, Martine, McLaggin (a Tactical PO) and Nymes behind. "Ok, Chance, send it over." Nymes added, almost as an afterthought. (reply Chance, iyw) The data sent over was unusually exact; it was almost as though the sensors were hypersensitive, and the subspace disruption was increasing the scan's resolution, rather than diminishing it. An attempt at a sensor ping yielded not much different, except that the vessel's heading had changed, and was moving away, incredibly slowly. The intership communications systems were fried, except for a modifield subspace beacon that Nymes had only seen once before, and as far as he was aware, was dangerously experimental. ~Typical that an intel agent had one installed~ he thought, approvingly. As Chance finished speaking his Ops board started lighting up. So Chance returned to his station and the job at hand. "Ensign, it seems as though the scans are correct, but the communications are fried; even if they could help us, we cannot communicate off-ship." Nymes said. Sitting at CONN, Nymes relaxed back, allowing West to remain in the Bridge chair, with Ensign Martine covering at Ops secondary station. (reply Chance, any) (posted by GC) (USS Dennison – Bridge – ACSO Ens Dale Bracken – 1000) Dale smiled slightly at her progress at the science station. The problem she saw was threefold. 1, make sure that whatever was the other end of the tunnel was not scanning them, 2, make sure that if the did scan that the ship could not be seen or detected. 3, not be detected when they destroyed they wormhole. Looking at the problem in parts she instantly saw that problem 1 was impossible to judge. There was no way of accounting for that. The only thing that could be done would be to minimise their scannable signiature, ‘rig for silent running’ as it where. Even then, there may be ways of further hiding their presence. Now number 3 had posed an interesting technical point. A quantum burst would probably be effective, but would instantly be fairly obvious what had caused it, a torpedo. There weren’t many other sources of quantum radiation, especially that permiated subspace, no, there was a chance of another method, a little more hit and miss perhaps, but far more elegant. She would have to come to that later. ~If this works…~ “Commander, Doctor, a moment of your time at the main science station please, Dale’s got something for you.” (Reply West, Nymes) Dale didn’t have to wait very long, both men appeared very quickly at her side, she turned to them both, though speaking in very hushed tones. “Okay, First off, I’m still working on our natural event, I don’t think we’ll need to resort to quantum torpedos sir, but I’m not certain yet. Now, to business.” Dale paused in her delivery, tapping a few times on the screen to bring up a schematic of the plan. “I’m almost certain I can hide us, but we need to batten down the hatches and rig for silent running. We can’t have so much as a sneeze out of place. We need to reduce our power usage as much as possible, shut down all external and unused internal lights, shut down Life support in all unmanned areas, nothing that looks unnatural at all. This is going to be really tricky guys,” (Reply West, Nymes) “What we’re going to do is pretend to be just another bit of space. Now I can’t stress this enough, or this won’t work; this must be EXACT, near enough will not work at all.” Dale emphasised the last few words. She could tell she had them, had their undivided attention, she wasn't certain of their undivided understanding but as an astrophysicist and astrochemist, Dale was rather used to that. “The shields need to be running at all visual range frequencies simultaneously, except these, to the nanometer; 410nm, 434nm, 486.1nm and 656.2nm. We also need to release some hydrogen from the ship and hold it in the shields if possible. Anyone looking this way will see just another empty patch of interstellar hydrogen, and if they do look at us, they’ll see the correct absorbtion spectra. The sheilds will be mimicking the expected visible range absorbtion lines. What do you think? Is it possible to get the sheilds to do this?” (Reply West, Nymes) (Posted by Mark) (USS Dennison – Bridge – CMO Lt.jg Lewis Nymes– 1001) “Commander, Doctor, a moment of your time at the main science station please, Dale’s got something for you.” Nymes tapped a lock command on the status windows he was reviewing, and stood up, allowing Martine to take over at CONN. "Yes, Dale?" he asked as he joined the Commander at the station. We need to reduce our power usage as much as possible, shut down all external and unused internal lights, shut down Life support in all unmanned areas, nothing that looks unnatural at all. This is going to be really tricky guys,” "Thats going to be tricky enough with all personnel, but with a skeleton crew on the bridge, and engineering... Our ACEO is going to need some help down there - and I'm no engineer..." (reply West, Bracken) "So whats the plan, then, Dee?" he asked in hushed tones. “What we’re going to do is pretend to be just another bit of space. Now I can’t stress this enough, or this won’t work; this must be EXACT, near enough will not work at all.” Nymes listened as Dee outlined the plan, an interesting take on the scenario, and would work, although Nymes had some reservations. "What do you think? Is it possible to get the sheilds to do this?” "Well, wouldn't the gas bubble cause comment in its regularity? Grey-mode will work for the power-down, but a gas vent, could be more problematic." (reply West, Bracken) (posted by GC) (USS Dennison – Bridge – Commander Trevan West– 1002) “Commander, Doctor, a moment of your time at the main science station please, Dale’s got something for you.” Trevan moved over to the rear station where he was joined by Nymes. “Okay, First off, I’m still working on our natural event, I don’t think we’ll need to resort to quantum torpedoes sir, but I’m not certain yet. Now, to business.” “I’m almost certain I can hide us, but we need to batten down the hatches and rig for silent running. Our ACEO is going to need some help down there - and I'm no engineer..." Trevan looked up, "I am, or shall I say, was the Boudicca's CEO for many years. I can't leave the bridge but, I'll do my best from up here. I'll have anyone with an engineering level 2 grade rating report to him at once." replied Trevan. He listened intently on the options presented to him but before he could reply the Doctor beat him to it. "Well, wouldn't the gas bubble cause comment in its regularity? Grey-mode will work for the power-down, but a gas vent, could be more problematic." replied Nymes. Trevan now spoke up. " I agree with all the options, but I think the quantum torpedo option is our best bet to prevent anything from surviving the collapse of this wormhole. Also, I believe that by inducing a quantum field, it would prevent such an occurrence in the future at this location and on the other side." (reply any) "I have been over it in my head. Warp and impulse drives won't work unless the pre-cursor field is gone and that can't happen until we destroy it." Trevan looked at both Trills, "Best solution to this puzzle in one hour." (reply any) Trevan nodded, "I understand, but I don't think we have time to be as cautious as I would have liked to have been. No. The torpedo option is the only way I think.." He looked over at the Doctor and heard a comment. "Doctor, as you well know, Intel orders supersede all others. Yes, my primary concern is the safety of the ship and her crew, but at the moment we are all in danger. The entire fleet is in danger if we don;t succeed. The needs of the many Doctor." Shields wouldn't do much against that radiation anyway, but that close, with the doses that we are talking about..." Nymes trailed off. "I have been over it in my head. (reply any) Trevan nodded, "I understand, but I don't think we have time to be as cautious as I would have liked to have been. No. The torpedo option is the only way I think.." Nymes looked incredulously at the Intel Officer. His former hosts experiences gave him an insight into the workings and philosophy of the Intelligence community, but he still wasn't convinced that this was the way to go. "Primo non nocere." Nymes muttered under his breath. "Doctor, as you well know, Intel orders supersede all others. Yes, my primary concern is the safety of the ship and her crew, but at the moment we are all in danger. The entire fleet is in danger if we don;t succeed. The needs of the many Doctor." "Is your mandate. My mandate is those under my care, Commander. With respect, Commander, Not pursuing an alternative to putting lives at risk, definitely, to a course where lives may only be at risk, is reckless." (reply West) (Posted by GC) (USS Dennison – Bridge –Ops ENS (JG) Chance Temerarious – 0950) "OK, Chance, send it over." Nymes added, almost as an afterthought. “Sir; the opening is only open enough to get a “peephole” view of the other side with the sensors, which means it is open enough to get a small attack ship like the Star Hawk through, I have already sent the sensor results to you but I don’t think your gonna like them sir.” As Chance finished speaking his Ops board started lighting up. So Chance returned to his station and the job at hand. "Ensign, it seems as though the scans are correct, but the communications are fried; even if they could help us, we cannot communicate off-ship." Nymes said. Turning around and looking in Nymes direction, Temerarious said matter-of-factly “Sir, we wouldn’t get a response from the ‘Hawk anyway simply because there is nobody aboard; that is why she is still holding position off of Dennison.” (USS Dennison – Bridge –Ops ENS (JG) Chance Temerarious – 1005) Trevan now spoke up. “I agree with all the options, but I think the quantum torpedo option is our best bet to prevent anything from surviving the collapse of this wormhole. Also, I believe that by inducing a quantum field, it would prevent such an occurrence in the future at this location and on the other side." Looking back and forth between Commander West and Lieutenant Nymes; Chance opened up with another of his stupid and crazy ideas saying “Sirs, if I may, I can use the Star Hawk to fly in fire photon torpedoes to create a big enough disruption to help get the Dennison free and then you can fire quantum torpedoes in as I try to fly back out without getting killed in the process. At the very least I look like an opportunistic pirate attacking. As I try to keep them busy, hopefully they won’t notice the presence of the Dennison.” Walking up to West with a PADD and holding it out to West, Chance continued, “Commander here is a copy of my Letter-of-Marque, the specs on my ship, and the letter from the captain granting me permission to keep the Star Hawk aboard the Dennison; all of which S.I. has on file.” "I have been over it in my head. We will need full power to escape the blast. Any sooner and we won't be able to move and any later and well," his voice trailed off. 'We don’t have the power to launch the quantum's but, we could deploy them like mines. They have their own thrusters to keep them stationary. Warp and impulse drives won't work unless the pre-cursor field is gone and that can't happen until we destroy it." Trevan looked at both Trills, "Best solution to this puzzle in one hour." “Should I get ready to beam over to the ‘Hawk sir?” asked Temerarious uncertain if West was looking at him or not. Trevan nodded toward the doctor it seemed saying, "I understand, but I don't think we have time to be as cautious as I would have liked to have been. No. The torpedo option is the only way I think.” (reply West, Nymes) (Posted by Charlie Raschen) (USS Dennison – Bridge –Commander Trevan West– 0951) “Should I get ready to beam over to the ‘Hawk sir?” asked Temerarious. Trevan nodded toward the doctor it seemed saying, "I understand, but I don't think we have time to be as cautious as I would have liked to have been. No. The torpedo option is the only way I think.” Trevan then turned to face Chance, "Chance, I can't afford to use you at this moment. You are my right hand man and that means staying put here on the Bridge. I'll send over anyone else that you see fit to go. I should mention that the transporter is off-line, so that person will have to take a shuttle pod and then beam over to the Hawk." Trevan hoped this would go over well, he couldn't afford to lose his best officer in some stunt. "Let me know, you have about an hour or less before we go ahead with any plan, your's or anyone else's." (reply any) (Posted by Kerry Fletcher) (USS Dennison – Bridge – Commander Trevan West– 1004) "Doctor, as you well know, Intel orders supersede all others. With respect, Commander, Not pursuing an alternative to putting lives at risk, definitely, to a course where lives may only be at risk, is reckless." replied the Doctor. Trevan gritted his teeth and ground them hard. "Lieutenant, in my ready room now." The doors to the room had barely closed when he snapped his head around to face Lewis Nymes. "Before you start speaking, you were out of line back there. I don't give a damn about 'your mandate'. I have a job to do and I will do it weather you agree with it or not. I have made an order and I expect it to be followed without question." he yelled. "I have hundreds of tasks to complete and not enough people to do the job. Everyone is doing their part and will do their part or they will find themselves in a cargo ship cleaning plasma filters." "If you want to dis-agree with me, fine. Do it in private. DO NOT call me or my decisions reckless in front of the crew. Most are new and have no clue to what is going on around them. I don't need my medical officer scaring the hell out of them by making them think the person in command is insane." (reply Nymes) (Posted by Kerry Fletcher) (USS Dennison – Bridge – CMO -Lt.jg Lewis Nymes– 1005) Nymes had only spoken the honest, sensible, logical truth. A Course of Action that endangered the ship was lunacy, especially when there were no guarranteed threats to the vessel apart from the lack of motility and power problems. Trevan gritted his teeth and ground them hard. "Lieutenant, in my ready room now." Nymes raised his eyebrows, but followed the rapidly retreating back of Trevan West to the ready room. "Before you start speaking, you were out of line back there. I don't give a damn about 'your mandate'. I have a job to do and I will do it weather you agree with it or not. I don't need my medical officer scaring the hell out of them by making them think the person in command is insane." "Sir. Like I said, and With respect once more, this is lunacy. If you follow through on these orders, there won't BE anyone left to clean a cargo ship. What makes this anomaly so damn important, sir?" Nymes asked. (reply West) (Posted by GC) (USS Dennison – Ready Room, Commander Trevan West– 1006) "Sir. Like I said, and With respect once more, this is lunacy. If you follow through on these orders, there won't BE anyone left to clean a cargo ship. What makes this anomaly so damn important, sir?" Nymes asked. Trevan thought about his options for a moment. "Lewis," he said in a non threatening tone, "I wish I could tell you. I know you are known in the Intelligence community but my orders are classified. I would have to contact Intel to get permission to tell you what I know. I don't have time for that now." Trevan put a hand on the Doctor's shoulder, "Trust me for now." he said staring into the mans' eyes. "Use your previous experience and trust me." (Reply Nymes) (Posted by Kerry Fletcher) (USS Dennison – Ready Room - CMO Lt.jg Lewis Nymes– 1007) Trevan put a hand on the Doctor's shoulder, "Trust me for now." he said staring into the mans' eyes. "Use your previous experience and trust me." Nymes could see the commander was sincere, but how many times had the trill said the same thing to "non-combatants"? It was pushing things a little to put trust in a commanding officer who for all intents and purposes was prepared to destroy the ship rivet by rivet in order to fulfil a mission. Keeping his face carefully level, his eyes not betraying his thoughts, Nyme simply returned his request with a "Sir." Not affirmative, not negative, but dead-pan honesty. Taking his leave from the 2O, he spoke softly to the 2O. "I will take the bridge, then, sir." (USS Dennison - Bridge - CMO Lt.jg Lewis Nymes - 1009) Nymes rattled off his commands as he entered the bridge. "Chance, report on status - are all sectors clear of personnel?" (reply Chance) "Okay, what about the status of the holodecks? Any changes there?" (reply Chance(/Dale iyw)) "Martine, take tactical. Red alert, weapons hot, shields to pattern Nymes - Quicksilver one. Engineering?" Nymes ordered, his shield modifications being a standard protocol on any vessel, but modified in the field to be more... comprehensive than the standard starfleet medical shield configuration. (reply Jacobs Engineering) "Status of systems. Reroute availiable power to emergency refuge areas, and primary shields. Auxillary power to the structural integrity grid." (reply Jacobs Engineering) "Roger that, you have an hour. Bridge out." Nymes flicked comm channels. "Bridge to 2ndry Sickbay. Report." =/\= Everything is in order, sir. All patients stable. =/\= said PO Hedges. "Good. Start to innoculate the crew as per Protocol Quicksilver One ready for 1110 hours." =/\= Underway, Sir. =/\= "Understood, Bridge out." (reply any) (USS Dennison - Bridge - CMO Lt.jg Lewis Nymes - 1114) Nymes finished walking to and from the bridge stations - status was confirmed, and ready. "Commander West to the Bridge." Nymes simply stated. Everything was ready. Now for the hard part. (Reply West, Bracken, Chance, Jacobs, any) (Posted by GC) (USS Dennison – Bridge – ACSO Ens Dale Bracken – 1011) Dale was still manning the main science station, she was slightly the worse for the lack of sleep and the near continuous shift since who knows when, but she was a starfleet officer, and this was a war. It wasn’t one of the quiet parts of history now, no. This would be the time where people carve their niche into the annals of glory. Each and every move of probably every officer would be scrutinised at some point in the future, and one thing Dale didn’t want would be for some faceless, as yet unborn historian to point their finger toward her and say ‘Well it was all okay, but the ACSO on the Dennison clearly was an incompetant bufoon. She should have done a whole lot more, she acted like a fool.’ Nymes returned from the ready room, his mood unreadable, but his manner efficient, requests for reports crisply sent across the bridge . Dale admitted to herself that she wouldn’t have minded being a fly on the wall during whatever was said in the last few moments. "Okay, what about the status of the holodecks? Any changes there?" Dale decided to take this one, the question seemed fairly general and this really wasn’t the time for precise job demarkation. “No changes to H-1, H-2 or H3 from 0430 this morning sir, save all non-essential personel are now in designated safe areas, according to display all Holodecks are locked down for the ride sir.” Dale would have to admit that the situation, though terrifying, and desperate, was making her feel more and more alive. The tiredness that had dragged her down since 0430 that morning was now dissipating, the fabled ‘second wind’ was well on it’s way. (Reply Nymes iyw) Dale nodded, turning back to the science station, truth was she was running out of things to do save continuously monitor the entire subspace area, it had been a while since her reporting her findings to Lewis and West. She would have to be really on the ball when it came to that plan coming into action, but the other part of it, the part about avoiding a quantum balst was now completely unavoidable, as she was about to report to Nymes. Deciding to dispense altogether with formality, she spoke up. “Lewis, a moment of your time if possible, We’ve hit problems with plan B.” It was an innocuous enough statement, no-one else on the bridge would think twice about it’s meaning, but to Lewis it would speak more than volumes. (Reply Nymes) (Posted by Mark) (USS Dennison – Bridge – CMO Lt.jg Lewis Nymes– 1017) “Lewis, a moment of your time if possible, We’ve hit problems with plan B.” Nymes looked up from his screen next to the command chair. ~problems... great~ he hadn't minded the informality in the slightest - Dee was as good a friend as the trill had found in his lifetimes of serving in starfleet - bright, took initiative and sopisticated as well. Despite the situation, Nymes smiled his infectious smile once again, and crossed the bridge. "Ok, Dee," he said, speaking quietly into the ACSO's ear. "What's the problem?" (reply Bracken) Motioning that Dee should get up from her station, Nymes led her to the replicator panel in the aft of the bridge, chatting as they went. Ensign Martine seemed interested in the conversation, but Nymes spoke clearly as the duo passed the CONN station. "Time for your innoculation, Dee. (what is it?)" (reply Bracken) (posted by GC)
